Since our last newsletter, FPCC has had three families move out into the community into their own places. All of them felt BLESSED from their time in our program.
Family #9 (Mom, Dad and five kids) had been with us for over four months. They were both veterans, but experienced difficulty finding landlords who would accept third party payments. It took them over two months of intense searching to find a landlord who would work with them. During that time, this network housed them, fed them, played with their children and got to know them very well. In addition, our partner PetSmart housed their dog that entire time. During their stay with us, they both found employment, they were able to save money and they found a house with a fenced yard for the dogs and kids to play in.
Family #12 (Mom and daughter) had identified an apartment that would accept them but could not muster the money to get into it. They had been bouncing between hotels and family couches. After a month with FPCC, Mom #12 saved money and was able to qualify for other programs to help with her security deposit. They moved into their new apartment with no problems and they love their new place.
Family #13 (Mom and son) just experienced a true miracle. Mom had just lost her job the week before she started with us. She went to an interview the day after her joining FPCC and was offered that job! Case Manager Louise Sterling referred her to the Center for Family Resources and she was offered a spot in one of their programs, which meant that she left FPCC after only four days with a furnished apartment and a new job!
We have to give a big thanks to all of the volunteers who have made it possible for this network to be celebrating it's 9th graduate family this year. Our thanks include PetSmart, who have housed three dogs and one cat for families while they have been with us in 2016.
