Falling Into Housing....

Meet Your Newest Neighbors!

Since our last newsletter, FPCC has had three families move out into the community into their own places.   All of them felt BLESSED from their time in our program.
Family #9 (Mom, Dad and five kids) had been with us for over four months.  They were both veterans, but experienced difficulty finding landlords who would accept third party payments.  It took them over two months of intense searching to find a landlord who would work with them.  During that time, this network housed them, fed them, played with their children and got to know them very well.  In addition, our partner PetSmart housed their dog that entire time.  During their stay with us, they both found employment, they were able to save money and they found a house with a fenced yard for the dogs and kids to play in.

Family #12 (Mom and daughter) had identified an apartment that would accept them but could not muster the money to get into it.  They had been bouncing between hotels and family couches.  After a month with FPCC, Mom #12 saved money and was able to qualify for other programs to help with her security deposit.  They moved into their new apartment with no problems and they love their new place.

Family #13 (Mom and son) just experienced a true miracle.  Mom had just lost her job the week before she started with us.  She went to an interview the day after her joining FPCC and was offered that job! Case Manager Louise Sterling referred her to the Center for Family Resources and she was offered a spot in one of their programs, which meant that she left FPCC after only four days with a furnished apartment and a new job!

We have to give a big thanks to all of the volunteers who have made it possible for this network to be celebrating it's 9th graduate family this year.  Our thanks include PetSmart, who have housed three dogs and one cat for families while they have been with us in 2016.

Thank you to our Community Supporters!

We have to say a large thank you to our latest community supporters.  We received a grant from Cobb EMC for $3,000.  Cobb EMC gives back to the community through grants to non profits.  This is the second year we have received support from them.

Our Board President Julie Binney was invited to attend a breakfast with the Marietta Golden Kiwanis and received a grant from them for $500.  The Marietta Golden Kiwanis have been FPCC supporters since the early days of the creation of the network.

Like our volunteers, we could not continue to exist without support from grants from community organizations like these.
Support congregation The Episcopal Church of St. Peter and St. Paul becomes a 2017 hosting congregation.

The  Episcopal Church of St. Peter St. Paul has been a support church for Mt Zion UMC for a year.  Having heard about the Family Promise network, they decided to try it out while helping their neighboring church.  Their volunteers have provided hospitality and enjoyed the guests of FPCC.  They have now decided to join the network as a hosting congregation in 2017.
If you are receiving this newsletter and your congregation or group does not currently partner with us, consider becoming a supporter to one of our hosting congregations. OUR GUESTS NEED YOU!
