All about our kids!
Youngest FPCC Donors do it Again!

If you bought lemonade from a kid-operated stand this summer, it is quite possible you were helping some young donors learn the value of giving to those in need. Erin Palmertree, Jack Brady, and Sofie Canales all worked hard on their lemonade stand to raise $50 for FPCC this summer. Pictured above is Erin and her dad, Benton Palmertree in 2014 after they made their first donation of their lemonade stand profits to FPCC. The entire FPCC community thanks the trio for their hard work.
End of Summer- Not a Bummer with all the Back to School Donations!

August brought the beginning of classes for the children of FPCC. We were hosting ten children but only eight of them were facing those long lists of needed supplies and clothes. Our volunteers stepped in and provided backpacks, school supplies according to grade, and a few nice outfits for our kiddos to start school with, including shoes.

For those of you who donated, a thank you is inadequate for the helpful start you gave these children for their school year. As always, FPCC is all about people being willing to do amazing things for strangers.

If you did not have a chance to donate, we STILL NEED SCHOOL SUPPLIES.  We don't have the extras we need to give to children as they come into our program during the school year. So, if you see sales on backpacks, markers, paper, glue sticks, composition books, and notebooks, please pick them up and drop them off at the Day Center!
Moving On and Graduating

We are so excited for Family #7 (mom and daughter) to be in their own home. They were our sixth family to graduate this year. Their housing search was long and included lots of disappointing interactions. The supply of housing for people who have made mistakes (bad credit or previous evictions) continues to shrink at an alarming rate locally. Family #7 was housed, for the first time, through our network. One of our volunteers, who had spent time with the family by providing dinners, heard about their fruitless housing search and offered their fully furnished basement for rent.

We are now at a point where we might have to explore using this kind of option more often in order to increase opportunities for working families to get housing. Our board is planning to launch an affordable housing committee to work on viable strategies for Cobb County. If you are interested in joining this committee, email info@familypromisecobbcounty.org.
Day Center Search

Thank you for sending us leads on a possible new day center.  We have been visiting and talking to several properties and are hopeful that one of them will become our new base of operations. To that end, we need your help. All of the properties we have toured have issues and we need expertise about repairs and how much those repairs might cost. If you have building experience and are willing to help us figure out how to do budget friendly repairs please join our day center search committee by emailing info@familypromisecobbcounty.org. We are in particular need of people with roofing and plumbing experience.
