Gold Star Volunteers
We have so many caring volunteers who make the stay for our guests comfortable.  We also are filled with a number of volunteers who work behind the scenes, organizing, fixing or providing special services.  This newsletter edition will highlight just a few of their stories. Hopefully, you will be touched and motivated by their spirit of volunteerism.
Musician and Handyman all in One

FPCC utilizes rolling cots in order to transform congregational space into a home for families each week.  Many of our cots were in need of some maintenance, but the only tool chest at the day center houses a hammer and a screwdriver, not adequate for the heavy duty frames of the rolling cots.

Our friend Bob Wiseman, with Smyrna Church of the Nazarene, saw the condition of our cots and took a day to bring them to his tool shed to fix them.  He added new bolts, tightened up some of the underwiring and generally extended the life span of them.   Smyrna Church of the Nazarene and St. Benedict's Episcopal co-host for four weeks on the Family Promise calendar.

In addition to being a Volunteer Coordinator, Bob plays  with the Good Timers performing old country and gospel tunes. The group normally plays monthly at senior centers, an American Legion Post and occasionally for church groups.

Legacy Dental Care caught the FPCC fever!

Our Board members are always spreading the word about the great work being done in the FPCC network.  Trustee Lane Henderson was bragging about us during an exercise class and was able to get the wonderful people at Legacy Dental Care to catch the spirit of helping their neighbors in need.  They offered to schedule a few of the FPCC guests to receive routine dental cleanings and minor dental work.

Our family #9, including mom, dad, and the 5 kids were able to go to the luxurious office at Legacy Dental care where Dr. Seth Patt and his staff (Ms. Kim) treated them wonderfully.  A huge thank you to Dr. Patt and the Legacy Dental staff for extending themselves to this family.  FPCC and Legacy Dental will continue to schedule our guests to receive this needed but usually unaffordable healthcare.

Towel Donation Drive During the Month of May

We are so grateful for all the towel donations!  Mt. Zion UMC set up special collection bins for them and so many others dropped off new and gently used towels.  Don't worry, if you have a towel donation for us and you haven't gotten it to us yet, you can still drop them off. And don't worry if you weren't able to donate this time, we will hold another towel donation drive at the end of the year.   Finally, thank you to everyone who made our first towel donation drive a huge success.
