Saturday, September 10 volunteers are needed to serve at the Community Market at 3810-C Pepperell Parkway. Come for all or part of the time to clean, organize, stock shelves - whatever needs doing! All ages are welcome and children under the age of 12 must have an adult with them.

Alabama ARISE Annual Meeting


The 2022 Arise Annual Meeting will be Saturday, September 24, 2022, 10:00 am to 12:30 PM, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Montgomery, AL This year's meeting is a hybrid event with options to attend online or in person. The purpose of this meeting is to choose the 2023 issue priorities.


First Presbyterian Church as a member group can designate up to six representatives to receive seven votes each. Names of participants must be submitted by September 12. If you will serve as a representative, please contact Harriette Huggins 334-332-0427.  

Refreshing Punch, Smiling Faces, and YOU!


Join us in the courtyard following the 11 a.m. worship service for a time of fellowship and refreshment. Greet your neighbors, introduce yourself to visitors, and enjoy God's creation as we spend time together in community.  


This wonderful fellowship opportunity continues through the end of October, and we need volunteers to host/serve. Sanctuary Flower Sign-up


There are many available Sundays beginning in July for sponsoring flowers for our Sanctuary! The sign-up sheet is located outside of the receptionist’s office in the main church office building.


If you are unable to sign up in person, you may also contact Sarah Wolak at 334-728-7853 to sign up for a date. You are welcome to split the cost with another family-- just be sure to write both names on the line. The cost of the flowers has been increased to $50 per arrangement, not including tax and delivery fee. As before, you are welcome to bring the arrangements home after the service, or to leave them to be delivered to other members of the congregation.

Worship Arts Ministry: Bible Study/Workout/Worship


Starting Sept. 12, join us for a moving journey on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Mondays of the month, 9-10 a.m. in Baird Hall. Scripture focus for September and October: Psalms 23 and 100. Workout and Worship using Contemporary Christian music.

Children and Youth News


♢ Join us this Sunday morning in Baird Hall beginning at 9:30 for a time of fellowship and doughnuts, pastries, coffee and juice! Children’s Sunday school classes will meet their teachers and then be dismissed to their classrooms at 9:50. Jr. and Sr. High Youth will also be dismissed to their class at 9:50. Adults are invited to visit the new Sunday school rooms on your way to your Sunday school class and see the beautiful renovations.


♢ Godly Play begins this Sunday for children Pre-K through 2nd grade. After the Word to Grow By, the Godly Play Storyteller will lead the children down to the Godly Play room on the first floor. Parents, this Sunday after worship you are invited to stay for a few minutes and learn all about Godly Play from one of our Storytellers, Trish Dimick. This is a great opportunity to see what this amazing worship experience is all about!  


♢ Football Parking this Saturday: Our lot will open at noon for the 6:30 p.m. game. Parking is $30/spot and is first come/first served, with the lot closing when full!

• Children’s Sunday school will meet this Sunday from 10 – 10:45 in their new classrooms on the first floor.

• Children’s Church: After the Word to Grow By (at 11 a.m. worship), children ages 4 to 1st grade will go to the Preschool Room to worship together for the remainder of the worship service.

• Worship bags are also available for all children during worship.

Prayer Concerns & Celebrations



  • Prayers of comfort for our whole congregation as we grieve the death of Bob Walkup. Bob had been sick for the last few months but wished to keep it private. Please continue to keep all of Bob’s family, especially his daughters Alice and Emily in your prayers as they grieve his death. At this time there are no arrangements yet for a memorial service, but we will be sure to keep the congregation updated.
  • Prayers for Olyne Fischer as she recovers at home from successful surgery.
  • Prayers of comfort for Liz Lindahl as she receives hospice care. We pray for strength and peace for her family as they surround Liz with love and care. 
  • Please continue to pray for many members of our church who are dealing with illness, significant health issues, and grief, but at this time do not wish to be mentioned by name. Prayers of healing and comfort for many in our congregation. 
  • We continue to pray for Marianne Cone’s brother David who has been diagnosed with cancer. Prayers of peace for David and prayers of understanding for all those caring for him.
  • Prayers of healing for Steve Hickok as he recovers at home after successful surgery. 
  • Prayers of healing for Thomas Pope’s mother as she continues to recover from successful surgery. 
  • Prayers of healing for Jo and Raymond Cooper as they both recover from health issues.

  • Prayers for Evert Duin’s mother, Nel Landzaad, after some recent health issues. Nel lives in the Netherlands, so we pray for the Duin family who care for and love her from afar. 
  • Prayers of healing and comfort for Catherine Wolfe’s father, Ned Wolfe as he begins a period of chemotherapy treatment. 
  • Prayers of healing for Mary Burkhart as she recovers from successful heart surgery. 
  • Prayers for Tripp Hinkle’s mother as she recovers from successful surgery.
  • Prayers of healing for Kay Recknor’s friends the Rev. Mitzi Lesher-Thomas and her husband the Rev. Troy Thomas. Mitzi has glioblastoma brain cancer and has been undergoing chemotherapy.
  • Prayers for Amy Kilner and her family (daughter in law of Dorothy Moran). Amy is in need of a kidney transplant and is currently looking for a donor.
  • Prayers of healing for Jason Banks (Margaret Brinkley’s neighbor). Jason is now back at work. However is recovering from successful shoulder surgery.
