New Members

Sara Lovelady and Scott Bagwell began attending First Presbyterian Church earlier this year and we are so glad to now have them as members. Sara joins us by transfer of membership from First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Scottsboro, Alabama and Scott Bagwell from Auburn United Methodist Church. Sara teaches English at Auburn High School and Scott is a Media Production Specialist at Auburn University. Scott's other claim to fame is that he is the voice of the Auburn High Tigers, announcing football games on the radio!

We are so glad to have the Michel family - Jesse, Kristina, Fritz, and Willow - join FPC - they first "visited" our church online during the pandemic and eventually found their way here in person when Fritz became interested in our youth group. Jesse is a professor in the Department of Psychology at Auburn and Kristina is a former librarian who has already begun helping to reorganize and revitalize our FPC library. Fritz works at Bitty and Beau's coffee and participates in technical theater work around town. Willow loves to dance, craft, and is excited about participating in children's choir. 

Katelyn Finch and JP Cox are likely familiar faces, as they have both been active participants in our UKirk campus ministry. Katelyn joins our church by transfer of membership from Trinity Presbyterian Church in Fairhope, AL and JP by reaffirmation of faith. Katelyn is a recent Auburn graduate and currently manages H&G Horse Quarters and teaches riding lessons. She also owns a photography business named Finch Photography.

JP is a mechanical engineering student at Auburn and also works as the Facilities Manager at H&G Horse Quarters. 

Please lookout for all of our new members around the church and help welcome them to the First Presbyterian family!

Stewardship Campaign Update

Many thanks to all of you who have already turned in your pledges of time, talent, and treasure to our annual stewardship campaign. To date we have received:

80 pledges for a total of $513,320

We are still $228,436 short of our 2023 goal.

Trunk or Treat 2022

Our second annual Trunk or Treat was a success! Thank you to everyone who came out to participate and especially to all of those who decorated such fun and creative trunks. Congratulations to the Joiner Family, whose Back to the Future theme scored them the winning vote in our "Favorite Trunk" contest!

COOKIE WALK for HABITAT! SAVE THIS DATE!  

The 27th Annual Cookie Walk to benefit Habitat for Humanity will be held Saturday, December 3, at Grace United Methodist Church on Glenn Avenue. You can support this event by: baking cookies, volunteering to help set up and display cookies on Friday evening, or helping with the sale. The Cookie Walk is an important part of raising funds for the WEHELP Coalition of churches (including FPC Auburn) that participates in building new homes for deserving families in our community. Children and Youth News

♢ 1st through 5th grade parents, mark your calendars. Nov. 10-12 is the Living River Children’s Retreat. The cost is $65 per child. Deadline to register is Nov. 1. Click here for registration form.

Children Pre-K through 5th grade

• Children’s Sunday school will meet Sunday, 10–10:45 in their 1st floor classrooms.

• Children’s Church: After the Word to Grow By (at 11 a.m. worship), children ages 4 to 1st grade will go to the Preschool Room to worship together for the remainder of the worship service.

• Worship bags are also available for all children during worship.

• The children will begin rehearsals for the Music and Mission Dinner program this Sunday at 4pm. Recreation from 4-4:15 in Baird Hall. Rehearsal in Conway from 4:15-5. Dinner in Baird Hall at 5pm.

Jr. and Sr. High Youth

• First Wednesday Fellowship for Jr. and Sr. High Youth will be this Wednesday, Nov. 2. Meet in the church parking lot at 7pm and we will walk downtown for ice cream and fellowship.

• Jr. and Sr. High Youth group will meet this Sunday. Dinner in Baird Hall at 5pm. Youth Group upstairs in the Youth Lounge from 5:30 – 6:30pm.

• Jr. and Sr. High Sunday school will meet in the Youth Lounge on the third floor this Sunday.

Prayer Concerns & Celebrations

• Prayers of comfort for all the family and friends of Raymond Cooper as they grieve Raymond’s death. Especially we pray prayers of comfort and peace for Jo Cooper during this difficult time.
• Prayers of healing for Vonda Ball as she recovers in the Intensive Care Unit at a hospital in Owensboro, KY after emergency surgery. We are so grateful Vonda is in such great care, and please pray for Don all who are caring for her. Vonda expected to remain in the hospital for a few weeks so she can fully recover.
• Prayers of comfort for Liz Lindahl as she receives hospice care. We pray for strength and peace for her family as they surround Liz with love and care. 
• Prayers of healing for Shannon Huggins as she recovers from successful surgery.
• Prayers of healing for Hap Reeves who is now home continuing his rehabilitation treatment.
• Prayers of healing for Jan Reppert she recovers from health issues at home.
• Continued prayers of healing for Olyne Fischer as recovers from health issues at home.
• Prayers of healing for Jean Lancaster as she navigates some health issues.

• Prayers of healing for Kay Recknor’s friends the Rev. Mitzi Lesher-Thomas and her husband the Rev. Troy Thomas. Mitzi has glioblastoma brain cancer and has been undergoing chemotherapy.
• Prayers for Amy Kilner and her family (daughter in law of Dorothy Moran). Amy is in need of a kidney transplant and is currently looking for a donor.
• Prayers of healing for Jason Banks (Margaret Brinkley’s neighbor). Jason is now back at work. However is recovering from successful shoulder surgery.
