Hello wonderful FPC members and friends!

Here is an announcement that you all have seen and heard multiple times, but I thought it was important to share it again, front and center:

The Session has issued a call for a congregational meeting to be held May 12, 2024, immediately following the 10 am worship service. This congregational meeting is for the purpose of hearing and acting upon the report of the Pastor Nominating Committee. At this meeting you will receive biographical information on our nominee, hear from members of the PNC, and vote on the recommendation of the committee for our next Senior Pastor.

Also, due to the confidential nature of this congregational meeting, we will stop our Live Streaming service immediately after our 10 am worship service. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

This is an important part of who we are as Presbyterians—doing things "decently and in order..." Sometimes those things make sense; sometimes you think, "why does this have to happen in this particular way?" But we worship together, pray together, work together. And this Sunday we MEET together! It will be a Spirit-filled worship service and we have planned worship in a way that should have us calling our congregational meeting to order by 11:00 a.m. at the latest.

We'll see you Sunday!

Mission News

After the last workday, attended by 40 church members, our Furniture Ministry received the following thank you note from a family who had donated furniture that had been picked up that day from their late mother’s home:

I want to thank your ministry at First Presbyterian (Furniture) for blessing our family this weekend. Nothing would thrill my Mom more than to know Jesus will be lifted up in sharing her possessions with families in need. Your team was so kind and efficient and made the time a great memory for Kathy, Jean and me. It’s so encouraging to know that God’s people are serving Him in meeting real needs. Our prayer is that it will bless others and bring Him glory as people see how God loves through His people. In Christ, Steve Dailey

The next Furniture Ministry Workday will take place on Saturday, May 25th from 9:00-noon.

Don't Trash It, a collaboration with Elon University where Furniture Ministry receives linens that the students do not want to take with them, will begin May 21 and we need LOTS of help! The Furniture Ministry will hold the linen pickup, sort, wash, fold and pack in the Garrison-Joyner Building. PICKUP and RETURN for washing will be available in the Garrison-Joyner Building on Sundays after church at 11-11:30 on May 26, June 2 and June 9. PLEASE have all washed linens returned on Sundays or on a "work day" by June 12. "Work days" are from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Fridays only May 21-June 7.

Please call 336-212-2937 or email furnmin3@gmail.com for more information or to volunteer. Thank you for your help!

FPC Walk & Talk Continues each Tuesday Morning

Come join us for Walk & Talk ever Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m.

Spring is in the air, folks and it is time to get back in the swing of our Tuesday morning walks together!

We will meet on the steps outside the chapel if it is above 40 degrees. If it’s raining we’ll meet in the black and white hallway.

This is wonderful low-key fellowship time!
