FOUNDING INTERNAL MEDICINE-DERMATOLOGY RESIDENCY PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Dear Colleagues,

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) is thrilled to announce a joint initiative between the departments of Internal Medicine and Dermatology to launch a new combined internal medicine-dermatology residency training program. This endeavor aims to uphold and advance the future of medical dermatology. We believe UT Southwestern is uniquely positioned to lead in this domain, having been a true pioneer in medical dermatology for decades.

To facilitate the success of this program, we are actively seeking an individual to serve as the inaugural and founding Program Director. This role will involve spearheading program development, overseeing educational activities, managing recruitment efforts, and providing regulatory support for the residency. Candidates with a strong background in both internal medicine and dermatology who could meet the needs across both training programs are ideal.

It is anticipated that the incumbent will establish a clinical practice in Dermatology and Internal Medicine. Engagement in other academic pursuits may include medical writing, scholarly lectures, and clinical and/or translational research.  The primary appointment will be in Dermatology and rank will be commensurate with professional accomplishments and experience. Candidates must hold board certification in Dermatology and Internal Medicine and have or be eligible for a Texas Medical license.

The Department of Dermatology provides care and educational opportunities in all the key elements of the specialty. In addition, it has a strong record in basic and clinical research, including training young physician scientists, and contributing to the greater community through participation in free clinics and programs designed to encourage young people to consider medicine as a career.

UT Southwestern ranks among the top academic medical centers in the world and is considered a highly prestigious top 10 dermatology residency training program. Our distinguished faculty includes active Nobel Prize Winners and numerous members of the National Academy of Sciences. 4,200 medical, graduate, and allied health students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows are trained here each year. Our physicians provide care to patients at UT Southwestern University Hospitals and Clinics as well as three affiliated hospitals.

Potential candidates should send a curriculum vitae and letter of interest to the following email address: alex.quezada@utsouthwestern.edu
