The Lodge 7 Board of Directors officially removed Michael K. Shields from his position as the president of Lodge 7 by a vote of 15 to 11 at yesterday's Board of Directors Meeting.

Last month, the Committee appointed to hear four charges filed against Shields convened and weighed the evidence. A report was prepared by the Committee and presented to the Board of Directors yesterday as part of the monthly Board Meeting. After consideration, the Board of Directors voted and found Shields guilty of three of the four charges. After a finding of guilt, the Board voted that Shields be removed as president of the FOP.

On Thursday, February 27th,  23 Chicago Police Officers travelled by bus in the early morning hours to Springfield to attend the EnBanc Hearings to protest the possibility of release of the convicted murderer of PO Herman Stallworth 10965 003rd District EOW 24 May 1967 and the offender convicted of the Attempted Murder of PO Eddie Jackson 2790 VCD Prostitution Unit 14 October 1977.

Both cases were called before the Parole Board and the facts were presented. The Parole Board voted on each case and parole was denied to each of these offenders. The vote to deny parole was unanimous for both cases.

The Lodge would like to thank all of the Officers who made the trip in the early morning hours, John Gordon, the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation for their constant support of these protests and for supplying the bus, and the thousands of Chicago Police Officers and Citizens who signed the petitions to deny parole to these convicted offenders.
