Over 750 attendees from AAVMC member institutions joined us at the St. Paul RiverCentre in St. Paul, MN for VSS 2024.

This event highlights the essential role of scientific research in veterinary medicine and provides students who have conducted original research through a variety of summer research programs, including the Boehringer Ingelheim Veterinary Scholars Program, with an opportunity to formally present their research in a professional environment.

The Becoming Faculty Workshop and Combined Degree Colloquium are held in conjunction with VSS.

Veterinary Scientists convene annually, in conjunction with VSS, for the Combined Degree Colloquium. The Colloquium provides tailored networking, presentations, and programming for students enrolled in DVM/PhD or VMD/PhD programs.

This year, 45 students registered for the Combined Degree Colloquium in St. Paul.

Thank You to our VSS 2024 Sponsors!

Our founding sponsor, Boehringer Ingelheim, has supported the symposium for over 35 years. Their Veterinary Scholars Program has afforded countless students the opportunity to pursue valuable hands-on research.

"...The impressive research undertaken by this year’s Veterinary Scholars Symposium participants speaks to the impact of that experience and shines a bright light on the future of veterinary science. Through the symposium and the Boehringer Ingelheim Veterinary Scholars Program, we are proud to continue our support of tomorrow’s leaders in public and animal health.”

- Randolph Legg, President and Head of Commercial Animal Health Business, Boehringer Ingelheim

This year, we also extended a warm welcome to our newest VSS sponsor, Mars Veterinary Health!

"...Through partnerships with industry and academic institutions and internal collaboration across Mars—a family-owned business with nearly 90 years of experience and heritage caring for pets—we are committed to improving patient outcomes and generating pet health insights that have the potential to enhance the lives of pets and revolutionize veterinary care profession-wide. As part of this commitment, we are honored to partner with the AAVMC, fellow sponsors, and leading academic institutions to support the 2024 Veterinary Scholars Symposium.”

The AAVMC is working hard to create a culture of diversity and inclusion in every dimension of academic veterinary medicine. To foster this goal, the photographs and illustrations which are used in our communications programs are aspirational, and do not necessarily reflect the levels of diversity and inclusion that currently exist.
