This Year's Roadcheck to Focus on HOS Compliance
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) International Roadcheck will take place June 5-7, 2018 . Over that 72-hour period, commercial motor vehicle inspectors in jurisdictions throughout North America will conduct inspections of commercial motor vehicles and drivers. Due to the impact of the ELD mandate, the focus will be on HOS compliance.
During International Roadcheck, inspectors will primarily conduct the North American Standard Level I Inspection, a 37-step procedure that includes an examination of both driver operating requirements and vehicle mechanical fitness. For specific details on this inspection, click here.

Truck Rates Climb; Shippers Partner With Carriers
Transportation costs are rising, with most industry experts expecting a 5 to 15 percent increase in truckload rates this year. Shippers can no longer rely on pricing power, so they are turning to their carriers and logistics partners. Carrier utilization has become more of a focus for shippers, and they are looking more closely at how freight fits with carriers' networks. Service metrics and scorecards between the shipper and trucking company are becoming more of a focus due to the fact that it could affect the rate charged for an A+ shipper, compared with, say, a C- shipper.
