Floaters at Round Pond, Link to Article by Jim Ash
To celebrate Earth Day on April 22, FLPG was joined by local politicians, governmental staff, and environmentalists for the first Long Pond Greenbelt Summit. The group celebrated the collective action that created the Greenbelt and discussed our plans for the future, which include continued efforts to: (1) preserve more land, redefining the Greenbelt target area to encompass its hydrological boundaries; (2) implement multi-stakeholder processes for management of mutual areas, such as common signage and enforcement; and (3) develop educational and outreach programs to raise the public’s awareness of this unique area and familiarize newly elected officials and others about why the Greenbelt is such an environmental treasure.

There is no lecture planned for Sunday, June 19th, which is the Juneteenth holiday. FLPG will resume Sundays at Two in July with two lectures: on Sunday, July 10th, Chenae Bullock of the Shinnecock Nation will lead an Indigenous Ecological Knowledge plant walk; and on Sunday, July 17th, Mary Morgan of Drawndown East End will share her favorite climate solutions for everyday life. Details to follow.
