Counting Down The Days!
Wow! Our "Sweet 16" Abby's Closet Prom Dress Giveaway is only about two weeks away. The event is open to all high school students looking for a beautiful prom dress- no proof of financial need necessary, just a valid high school ID.  We are welcoming to different gender identities, abilities and sizes.  The goal of Abby’s Closet is to make every participant feel special, beautiful and confident.

Wanted to thank our Prom Dress Giveaway sponsors including, Macy’s Washington Square , Consolidated Community Credit Union  and Brides for a Cause . Their financial support means we can continue to provide beautiful dresses completely free of charge. Brides for a Cause is once again our Presenting Sponsor. This year's event will mark the 3rd year in a row that Brides has sponsored at this level. Thank you to Brides for being such a dedicated partner. We are looking forward to another amazing Giveaway!

As the Giveaway weekend gets closer we encourage you to check out our list of frequently asked questions . This is a great resource for attendees experiencing the Giveaway for the first time, as well as those who have attended in the past.

Also, please help us promote the event over the next two weeks. F ollow us on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter @abbysclosetpdx for updates about the Giveaway. Sharing our content can help us reach a broader audience. You can also find on our website,  2020 Promotional Materials  that we encourage you to share within your school, community and work place.

We appreciate your support!

2020 DREAMS SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED

The Abby’s Closet Board of Directors along with the Dreams Scholarship Committee and Prom Dress Giveaway Presenting Sponsor, Brides for a Cause , are proud to announce the winner for the 2020 Abby’s Closet Dreams Scholarship. Lisa Amani has been selected to receive a $2,500 scholarship award.

Born and raised in Congo DRC and later fleeing to Nairobi Kenya as a refugee, Lisa’s pursuit for higher education seemed far out of reach. Her family arrived to the United States three years ago. Since then, she has taken full advantage of the resources at her disposal, the main one being free education. Lisa is a senior at Roosevelt High School in Portland. After graduation, she will attend Portland State University. Lisa plans to major in social work and minor in psychology. With these two areas of emphasis she hopes to be able to serve the needs of Africans and other marginalized communities.
VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED
The Prom Dress Giveaway requires the help of over 800 volunteers! We are in need of Personal Shoppers all day on Sunday. We are also short on volunteers in our Sewing and Alterations area. Join us in the fun and volunteer!
