News and Updates

EMSC/FAN news & updates

  • At the May All FAN Meeting, Dr. Tracy McCallin and Lisa Gray presented on the basics of quality improvement. Check out the recording. Use Passcode: 78Y3pz1j to view the recording.
  • Missed out on the EMSC Day webinar? Click here to watch the recording.
  • Lisa Treleaven and her daughter June from Texas shared their story as a part of EMSC's EMS Week and EMSC Day campaigns. Watch and share their story here.
  • We're launching a quality improvement effort to ensure that EMSC and EIIC national level resources are meeting your needs as FAN Reps. We'll be using the Family Voices Family Engagement in Systems Assessment to gather your feedback and ideas. As you're answering questions and providing feedback please think specifically about national initiatives and supports. Please be sure to complete the survey by June 1, 2023.
  • The EMSC Data Center is launching a brand new website at the end of May, 2023! Like and follow them @emscDataCenter on Facebook and Twitter to get the latest news and updates.

New resources 

  • Have you put your story in our story database? This database helps us connect you to other FANs with similar experiences, match you with projects that align with your interests and experiences, and share your stories in support of EMSC goals.
  • Wondering how to include equity, diversity, and inclusion concepts in a project? Check out the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Considerations for Project Planning Guide created by the EIIC's Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Steering Committee.
  • Our first FAN 101 Module is out! Click here to learn more about the history of the EMSC and FAN.
  • The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Emergency Physicians have updated the Emergency Information Form. Read their updated policy statement about the importance of the Emergency Information Form here.
  • The Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response and the Health Resources Services Administration's Maternal and Child Health Bureau have created a Child and Adolescent Health Emergency Planning Toolkit. This toolkit is focused specifically on the needs of children and youth with special healthcare needs. Please feel free to share this with your networks!
  • A new Spanish-language guide from Got Transition and Family Voices helps families navigate the transition from pediatric to adult health care.

All Grantee Meeting 2023 Updates

Dates, times, and descriptions for sessions are being updated, so check back soon!


As a part of the Zac Johnston and Carter Mears Memorial Lecture on Family Centered Care, we will be recognizing an EMS team who has provided exceptional family centered care. Nominate an EMS team you've worked with here.


Please also make sure that you have registered for the All Grantee Meeting and have talked to your State Partnership Managers about travel. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to us.

Do you have a story about an emergency department visit exceeded your expectations? Please consider sharing this story to help support State Emergency Department Recognition programs. Please reach out to Jennifer by June 15 if you'd like to share your story.

2. Be a Featured FAN in Pulse

 

Please share your thoughts on family-centered care in the EMSC Pulse! To be included, answer this brief four-question survey and attach a picture of yourself to be included! 

3. External Resource Feedback Needed

 

The Dougy Center has requested family feedback on their new toolkit, "After a COVID Death." This resource is geared towards families and children. Please enter your feedback into this survey by June 13.
