Firefly is making headlines for a very frustrating reason

CBS19 News Story

Firefly customers in multiple different areas experienced outages over the weekend due to dove hunters shooting at doves perched on power and communication lines. The unlawful destruction of this fiber is not only a nuisance to customers affected by the outage, but costly to Firefly and the Cooperative that owns the fiber.

We are working hard each day to bring high-speed, reliable internet to rural communities in Virginia. These unfortunate events force us to redirect efforts toward repair and restoration of service and slow our progress.

Please help us prevent this unnecessary disruption of your service. We urge you to remind your neighbors to never shoot at or through power and communication lines.

It is dangerous. It is costly. It is a FEDERAL OFFENSE!
