On April 16, FAME welcomes David Schonthal, MBA, Clinical Professor of Strategy at the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University for our monthly grand round series - Today's Innovations in Medical Education. In this interactive session, David Schonthal will highlight the frictions that operate against new ideas and innovations and explain how to transform the frictions into important catalysts for change. The Feinberg Academy of Medical Educators offers a variety of consultation services to individual faculty members, groups, and departments at the Feinberg School of Medicine. To request a consultation, click on the purple link below or email fame@northwestern.edu.



Grand Rounds Sessions

  • Schedule a CME-accredited medical education session for grand rounds. Choose from a variety of session topics or propose a new one. 

Bias Training

  • Schedule a grand rounds session focused on reducing bias and enhancing inclusivity in healthcare and medical education environments.

Clinical Faculty Consulting

  • Connect with education experts who can provide individualized clinical faculty development approaches, ranging from online modules to teaching observations with feedback and coaching.

Direct Observational Teaching

  • Submit a request to be observed by an educational expert or to become a mentor observer.

Applications Open | Northwestern's MS in Health Professions Education


Applications are now open for Northwestern's Master of Science in Health Professions Education (MS-HPE) program. This two-year, part-time executive program is designed for busy healthcare professionals. Full-time Northwestern employees may be eligible to use their employee tuition benefits.

Designing and Implementing Simulation-Based Mastery Learning Curricula Course


Mastery learning is a rigorous form of competency-based medical education. The mastery model has been shown to improve patient care quality and lower healthcare costs. Northwestern Simulation faculty are leading experts in using simulation-based mastery learning to develop and measure clinical skills. This March, they will offer a 3-day in-person course where participants will acquire the knowledge and skills needed to design and implement mastery learning curricula in the following key domains: resuscitation, procedural skill training, and communication skills.
