Greetings!
The week before Thanksgiving found the salons full of customers getting holiday makeovers. At the new VIP Lounge Salon, over 40 participants in a beauty class at learned the latest makeover tips from an industry expert.

And this week has found the merchants doing the same: learning how to make over their business--rearranging their merchandise, sprucing up the window displays and getting ready for the holiday season! They are all angling to win the citywide window display contest!

Read on to learn more about the window display contest and our Business Grand Openings and Holiday Celebration, next Saturday, December 11th.

Also find out which business has the best local food for the holidays. (Hint: this Boylston Street convenience store is only 1 of 4 stores in Boston to carry local guinea hens, along with other great local food!)
EGLESTON HOLIDAY MAKEOVER!

Thanks to generous donations, volunteer help and lots of holiday spirit, Egleston's storefronts are beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Multi colored Christmas ballsBall ornaments hang off of sneakers at Super Mario's Sneakers. Cristo Salon is complete with a Christmas tree and ornaments throughout the store, and Millennium Restaurant's decorations will delight your eyes as much as the food delights your stomach!

These displays highlight the stores' merchandise and entice customers to walk through the doors!

In addition, th ese displays help businesses enter the Citywide Window Display Contest!

Here's how it works:
The public and a panel of celebrity judges will select the winners from among businesses in Boston Main Streets' districts based on three criteria: best representation of local style and history, most inviting for customers and, of course, the most festive. The winning storefronts will be honored by the Mayor and will be featured in the press.

Round 1: December 3rd-8th
Egleston's best window display will be selected by a panel of judges from local organizations and the City. The winner will be announced at the Holiday Celebration December 11th!

Round 2: December 9th - 17th

In the public judging round, online voters will select their favorite storefront from the first place winners. The top vote-getters will advance to the final round.

Here's YOUR chance to help your favorite business win!

To view the contestants and vote online, visit: Holidays on Main Streets.

Final Round: December 18th - 20th

A panel of Boston celebrity judges will visit the top five storefronts and select the top three Boston Main Streets holiday storefronts. All three finalists will receive bragging rights and an official certificate to display in their window.

Mayor Menino will honor the Deck the Windows of Boston Main Streets contest winners at a celebration to be announced.
