Oliver Surveying & Engineering is now a part of Landform!
We’re growing! We are excited to announce Landform Professional Services, LLC has acquired Oliver Surveying & Engineering, Inc. This acquisition will allow Landform to reinvest and expand services for our north metro clients by adding planning and landscape architecture services to the survey and engineering services that Oliver Surveying & Engineering has been providing to their clients.

With more than 50 years of providing land survey and civil engineering services to the north metro, Oliver Surveying & Engineering has maintained a strong client base that will continue to be served by the experienced team they know. Lynn Caswell, LS, will lead the expanded Landform Land Survey Department and will continue to provide leadership in the Elk River office along with the other professional staff from this office. The services in the Elk River office will be enhanced to include all the available expertise provided by the overall organization.

The acquisition of the Oliver Surveying & Engineering, Inc. fits into Landform’s strategy to provide planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, land surveying and development management services to the entire metropolitan region. The acquisition also adds to our capacity and geographic presence to serve our public and private sector clients.
Comprehensive Plans
Landform’s Planning & Urban Design studio has been hard at work this year helping Twin Cities Metro communities update their Comprehensive Plans. Comprehensive Plans? What the heck is that? Good question – we’re glad you asked. The Comprehensive Plan is a policy document that helps communities set the vision for growth in the future. Communities in the 7-county metropolitan area are required by State Law to create a Comprehensive Plan and update it every ten years so that sufficient City services are available as communities grow. This year, communities are asked to plan for growth through the year 2040.

Landform’s planners work with communities to create a vision for all aspects of a city’s growth – from Land Use to Parks to Economic Development. Landform has helped the City of Lino Lakes, the City of Hugo and the City of Corcoran focus on evaluating adjusted growth projections and updating documents so that they are more graphically robust, easier to read and contain interactive links that help users navigate the document. Although it is a physical plan, it is also a reflection of the community's social and economic values. We aim to make the document an invaluable tool for communities and developers.
Our process helps residents and policy makers understand the technical components of the plan, focuses on listening to feedback about growth and creating actionable policies that communities can implement. We aim to find solutions that incorporate requirements provided by the Metropolitan Council with the goals of residents.

We’re excited to complete the plans we’re working on and plan on seeing approvals from the Metropolitan Council by the end of 2018. After the Metropolitan Council approves the plans for consistency with regional systems, we look forward to helping communities update zoning ordinances and complete studies identified in the plans.

Our planners stand ready to implement policies that helps communities grow. Call us today to find out how we can support your community through implementation.
