Major Investments Announced at Annual Campaign & Community Impact Celebration

The NARBHA Institute and Coconino Community College unveiled major new investments in our youth at our recent United Way of Northern Arizona Annual Campaign and Community Impact luncheon.

The NARBHA Institute announced a $100,000 grant being awarded to UWNA to further our efforts to foster youth leadership, promote youth mental well-being and resilience, and increase their sense of belonging and inclusion. (That's The NARBHA Institute COO Jon Perez receiving the Community Builder Award from UWNA President & CEO Liz Archuleta and Board Chair Armando Ruiz during the luncheon).

The majority of the funds from The NARBHA Institute will be dedicated to expanding the KinderCamp™ program to rural areas in Coconino, Navajo, and Apache counties.

The targeted intervention program, provided free to families, is a signature early education initiative coordinated by United Way of Northern Arizona with local school districts. It is held during the month of June and facilitates successful transition for students going into kindergarten who have minimal preschool experience.

KinderCamp graduates will be able to attend Coconino Community College for free under a program unveiled by the college’s president, Eric Heiser (left). He announced that each student who participates in KinderCamp will receive a “golden ticket” they can redeem when they graduate from high school for an education at CCC.

As you know, UWNA has big, bold goals for our youth and our community. We convene leaders, partners, and the community to make a collective impact. We mobilize companies, donors, and volunteers to create change - now and in the future.

We are incredibly proud that our partnership with these two organizations will provide additional opportunity and capacity for the next generation as we work to step up for our youth.

Campaign Champions Honored

Our luncheon also gave us a chance to recognize the work and dedication of numerous businesses, volunteers, and organizations that are essential to the profound, positive changes UWNA makes in northern Arizona.

This year's Annual Campaign has raised just over $1 million so far. Many people are responsible for that success. First and foremost, we were grateful for the enthusiastic leadership of this year's campaign co-chairs, Dan and Kim Musselman, two outstanding leaders who have dedicated their lives to the community and youth.

We also could not have conducted this campaign without our workplace campaign coordinators, who led the efforts to raise funds at APS, City of Flagstaff, Coconino County, Flagstaff Unified School District, Kinney Construction Services, Lowell Observatory, Navajo County, Nestle Purina PetCare, Northern Arizona University, Tucson Electric Power, and W.L. Gore & Associates.

During our luncheon, we also gave out several awards for businesses and organizations that went over and above during this year's campaign. We presented the Community Builder Award to The NARBHA Institute; the Helping Hands Award to Kinney Construction Services; the 2023 UWNA Board Chair's Corporate Partner Award to W.L. Gore & Associates; and Campaign Growth Awards to City of Flagstaff and Coconino County.

Thanks to everyone who attended our luncheon and who continue to live United in Purpose every day.
