Fun for the Whole Family!

Scarecrow Fest

October 3, 4-5:30 pm

Century Park Pavilion

Build your own scarecrow! Your group’s creation will line the driveway at the Sullivan Community Center during the Halloween season. Bring your own clothes and other accessories for your unique scarecrow. We will take care of the frame and filling. Enjoy complimentary snacks while we decorate.

Trucks, Trunks, & Treats

October 19, 11 am-1 pm

Turtle Creek Waterpark Parking Lot

Show off your Halloween costume while trick-or-treating through the aisles of trucks. Leashed dogs are welcome and can enter a doggie costume contest! Take home the sweetest treat of all, a rescue pup! Local animal rescues will be on-site with adoptable dogs to visit with.

Fall Fest

October 25, 6-9 pm

Sullivan Community Center

Bring your ghosts and goblins to our annual spooktacular family event featuring indoor trick-or-treating, magic show, and the annual costume contest.  This event will sell out, so be sure to buy your tickets early! 


Registration is required for all participants, including adults.

October 3 and October 14 School's Out Program 6:30 am-6 pm REGISTER

Kids enjoy their day off from school participating in recreational opportunities including sports, games, art and crafts, plus more!


October 8 Make Homemade Giardiniera with Fireman Tony 6-8 pm REGISTER

Make a Chicago classic, homemade giardiniera. This class will teach you how to chop vegetables and prepare them for jarring mild giardiniera, a great topping to compliment your favorite Italian dishes. Students will leave with jars ready to eat. 18+ Years


October 12 New! Kids' Night Out 5-7:30 pm REGISTER

Kids, 4-7 years, will spend an evening engaging in arts and crafts, games, stories and creative play. Pizza and juice will be served.


October 14 Polar Express Storytime Train Registration Opens REGISTER

Don’t miss this special train ride on December 14 from the Libertyville Metra Station to the North Pole (Fox Lake) and back again. Wear your PJs and enjoy goody bags, Christmas carols, treats, and a visit from Santa! All riders must register to receive a ticket to board the Polar Express Storytime Train. Children under 2 are free, but must register.


October 15 Caring for Children Babysitting Program 4-8:30 pm REGISTER

The “Caring for Children” Babysitting Program helps babysitters, 10-14 years old, learn to recognize and respond to emergency and non-emergency situations that could arise while taking care of younger children. We address topics such as child care, first aid, fire safety, police, security, and more.


October 17 Halloween GO Vernon Hills Walk 6-6:45 pm FREE!

Go on an evening walk with other ghosts and goblins! All ages are invited to dress up in their Halloween costumes (leashed pets too!). A costume parade will begin at 6 pm near the Pavilion. Join Park District staff on a 30 minute 1.5 mile walk in Century Park. Bring a flashlight and let’s light up the path!


October 19 Intro to Cheese Making 2-3:30 pm REGISTER

This is a hands on introduction to making soft cheeses from scratch. Come prepared to stretch, tug and shape your very own Mozzarella and learn about many of the other soft cheeses that can be made under an hour. 21+ years


October 19 Beer Appreciation - American Pale Ale 10 am-12:30 pm REGISTER

Explore the variety of raw ingredients, equipment needed, and see just how easy it is to make a great homebrew in the comfort of your home. Join us for this hands on immersive journey to see why great friends bring homebrew! We will be sampling during this class.


October 19 Battle Tank Robots Workshop 10-11:30 am REGISTER

Using unique RoboThink bricks, gears, axles and motors, students build a tank for battles, races and other challenges! As a lead tank developer, each student ensures that their products are in tip-top shape, so let's get rolling! No experience necessary. 7-12 Years


October 25 Zombie Zumba 7:15-8:15 pm REGISTER

Learn dance moves to Halloween themed music and wear your favorite costume (encouraged, but not required). It's sure to be a spooky good time!


October 26 Fit Fest 8 am-12 pm FREE!

Kick off Hallo-Week at Lakeview Fitness with a morning full of fun and fitness! You’ll have a spooky good time at this open house! Experience group classes, indulge in post-workout snacks, take advantage of a special fitness promotion, and more!
