Meet our Recent Graduates | |
Congratulations to the Green Guardians, our 128th Climate Action team, for graduating from the program on Thursday! They collectively reduced 88,899 pounds of carbon emissions and earned 123,350 points to create home and community resilience. This team was comprised of 19 participants who live or rent homes ln Marinwood, Novato, San Anselmo, and San Rafael.
The whole team signed up for MCE Deep Green and now have 100% renewable electricity to power their homes! They took many other impactful actions as well:
- Claire, a renter, reduced over 30,000 pounds of emissions. She is using the new workshop resources to encourage others to take action, including her parents, to help them shift to electric appliances. She also appreciates emergency preparedness resources to motivate her to be properly prepared.
- Susan, also a renter, reduced her carbon footprint by 64%. Even though she can't replace her gas appliances, she can use plug-in electric cooking (like a portable induction burner) and electric heating devices (like a one-room heat pump- see Electrify Marin event below to learn more!).

Norma and Alex are focusing on repairing items that they already own rather than buying new things to save our natural resources. Ryan & Krystle decided to take their family on a trip to Denver by train to travel with lower emissions than flying!
Ken is focusing on reducing red meat and shifting towards vegetarian or vegan. He's also going to do the CERT training to be a resource for his Marinwood neighborhood. Jenna is most excited about getting an EV this year and doing the free Quit Carbon program to get a plan to help prioritize her electrification projects.
According to our workshop Zoom poll in the last meeting, 80% of the participants were feeling hopeful about climate change. This is the shift we are seeking in our programs - from hopelessness to hopefulness! And this happens through taking action.
Thank You, Earth Guardians, for being a mighty team!

Team Member Testimonial
"This program was amazing! So informative, resourceful and well planned out. I have been so inspired by the things I've learned and all the resources that are available. Jennifer and Tamra have been great-so knowledgeable, helpful, well organized and they've been available to help beyond the classes as much as needed. Most importantly, their dedication is illuminated in a way that I think has been even more inspiring to be a part of working toward climate change and being in community. Thank you both so much for offering this and all you've done!"
- Susan Judson, Member of The Green Guardians
