A Special Acknowledgment to One of Our Most Dedicated Volunteers, Mr. Paul Sommers

For the past five years, Paul has generously shared his expertise by teaching gardening classes at Griset.

"I'm happy to hear that Paul will be celebrated as he is a great help to me. He keeps an eye on every corner of the garden, and consistently has things to harvest at all times. He has a wealth of knowledge from his experiences gardening in different parts of the world and always offers sound advice when asked. Plus, he's super kind and patient." -  Sandy Miller, CHL staff

San Diego County Youth of the Year Celebration

Daylin Heredia, our 2023 Overall Youth of the Year from our Griset Clubhouse in Encinitas, attended the San Diego County Youth of the Year Celebration. Daylin showcased remarkable confidence and eloquence in her presentation. Witnessing her growth from a reserved individual to a poised speaker was inspiring. Daylin's ability to express herself in front of a large audience truly reflects her progress.

Our Teen Room Buzzes with Activities

Our Griset teen room was buzzing with events and activities this past March.

Torch Club pitched in during our Annual Pancake breakfast, greeting guests, serving food, and helping to cleanup, showing exemplary teamwork.

Our ceramics program kicked off, exploring pottery basics, while teens visited an Art Cafe, courtesy of Got Milk.

Highlighting an Outstanding Club Kid

Meet Griset's Youth of the Month, Alexsandro: a dedicated member since kindergarten, he has shown remarkable growth this year.

Having overcome struggles with homework, he now excels, often assisting peers. Always eager to share his joy for reading, he embraces new experiences with a smile and infectious positivity.

Robotics Club Treasure Hunt

Led by STEM2Leaf, youth constructed and programmed digital compasses with various sensors.

They learned about gyro sensors and their role in directional navigation. Venturing outdoors, students engaged in a treasure hunt, relying on teamwork and their compasses to decode clues and find hidden treasures.
