“Remember…”

I often imagine myself in the story as I'm reading the Bible. I think about those times when Jesus walked on this earth, especially when Easter arrives, and try to picture in my mind the events that surround His death, burial, and resurrection. What a ‘whirlwind’ time it was for all His disciples dealing with all the chaos and confusion of His crucifixion and all the aftermaths.

Luke 24: 1-8 records one such scene: “But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold two men suddenly stood near them in gleaming clothing; and as the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, ‘Why are you seeking the living among the dead? He is not here, but He is risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise from the dead.’ And they remembered his words…

The ‘whirlwinds’ of life still swirl around us in chaos and confusion “…but the Word of our God stands forever” (Isaiah 40:8). So, ” Remember these words, “…never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Invite those on your “Look and See” card to the “Last Days Of Jesus” and to the 10am service Easter Sunday and let’s worship our amazing, risen Lord and introduce them to a new friend in Jesus.

WHAT WE BELIEVE...First Christian Church The Dalles is not affiliated with a denomination, instead choosing to be overseen by a team of elders. We consider the Bible to be the words of God, thus being incapable of error. As we seek a unified practice of our faith, we follow the teachings of the New Testament. We share communion each Sunday and follow the Biblical pattern for conversion. We support any who have accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord through belief, public confession of faith, baptism by immersion and continual obedience to Biblical standards of living. We hold firmly to essential doctrines but celebrate freedom in non-essentials as we seek to love God, love people, and make disciples who follow Jesus.
