$6.3 Million in ARPA Funding |
|
We strongly encourage community members and business owners to prepare your own, individual letters to be presented at the October 2021* City Council meeting in regard to the use of the City of Galt's $6.3 million allotment of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. Below are some ideas that may assist in drafting your letter.
TALKING POINTS TO PROVIDE PUBLIC TESTIMONY:
- Support allocation of a large part of the $6.3 million to provide relief to Galt's small business community.
- For nearly a year and a half, small business employers and employees have faced unprecedented challenges.
- According to the chamber's survey results last November, the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic will likely be felt by our small business owners for years to come.
- Navigating new and ever-changing workplace regulations and health and safety precautions are just a few challenges our businesses have had to contend with.
- Cost of cleaning supplies and safely materials have been quite a burden to most nearly all small businesses.
- Stuggling to keep up with commercial rent and utilities has been a significant challenge, even to the point of making it difficult to keep their doors open.
- Our small businesses have incurred hundreds, if not thousands in additional expenses to simply remain in business.
- Even though the economy reopened in June of 2021, small businsses still have what seems like endlesses challenges to face.
- Hiring, training, and keeping employees has been immensely costly and difficult.
- $6.3 million will go a long way if used strategically throughout our city. As our small businesses are the heart of our economy, we need to make sure they are taken care of by ensuring they will receive adequate funding to help them arrange short and long-term plans for operational success.

Later this month, the county will receive its 2020 Census data and will have until mid-December to approve new district boundaries.
The Sacramento County Voter Registrar, Courtney Bailey, and Supervisor Don Nottoli will host a Redistricting Workshop at the Elk Grove City Hall. Attendees will learn about redistricting, receive a mapping tools demo, and be able to provide public comment. The workshop will be available in person and via Zoom on Monday, October 4th at 6:00 pm.
