Volunteers Needed On Game Day - Watch for Signup Email

We will begin with play for all ages at nearby Tevlin Field on the grounds of Seton Hall Prep's Kelly Athletic Complex, immediately adjacent to the Shillelagh Club. We will be starting a little earlier than the advertised 12:30pm in the flyer as noted above.

At the end of play, we will have food, refreshments and awards for a season well played. Ceremonies will be conducted on the Shillelagh Club grounds at 2pm. Following the ceremonies, at about 3:15pm, we will join the senior hurling teams to march with the bagpipe bands back onto Tevlin Field to watch the featured event of the day: the Shannon Gaels (Queens, NY) vs the Allentown Hibernians (PA) in a bout of Senior-level Hurling. If you never seen hurling before, this is one to watch.

It will be a fun-filled day for all, including several bands and a bouncy castle, and we hope you can make it.

There is no cost for admission, food and drink wristbands are $10 for kids over 12, $25 for adults or $50 per family.

Youth Fall Program Announced

U6 Program Added

We are happy to announce that the Essex Shillelaghs GAA will continue our successful program with an exciting Fall season, similar to the tournament play we enjoyed in the Spring. A limited number of practices will be held at Stagg Field on Wednesdays at 6pm in September, daylight permitting.

Tournament dates will be set by the NY GAA Minor Board with play most likely held at Redmond Park in Yonkers. Last year, 3-4 tournaments were held in October and early November.

NEW to the program will be the addition of a U6 program for children aged 5-6.

For those who participated in our Spring program, we are pleased to offer the Fall season at no additional cost. New registrations are now open, with a fee of $45 for West Orange residents and $55 for non-residents.

We encourage interested NEW players to sign up and join us for a fantastic season of Gaelic Football. Existing players will receive game and practice announcements via Foireann.

Whether you’re continuing from the Spring or joining us for the first time, we welcome you to be part of the Essex Shillelaghs GAA community.

Online registration is now available on our website. Don’t miss out on the fun and camaraderie of Gaelic Football this Fall!

See you on the field this Fall!

Essex Shillelaghs Announces Women's Gaelic Football for Fall

From the success of the Minors program, the club recently announced the formation of a women's program nicknamed the Shi-Ladies.

The Ladies Gaelic Football practices will be hosted on West Orange’s Stagg Field on Wednesday nights, with games beginning in September. The matches will be in the “B” division and first-time players will find themselves very welcome. Most of the game travel will be to venues within 40 miles of West Orange, including Queens, the Bronx, Yonkers and Orangeburg, NY.

Registration is now open on our Shi-Ladies webpage and you can read more about it HERE.

VERY IMPORTANT: Communications for Our Club

We will be using Foireann, the GAA website as the PRIMARY means of communication between the parents and the coaches, including practice and game schedules.

Information will also be found on our website and on Facebook, but as a SECONDARY means to get the message out and it may not be as timely as Foireann.

When on Foireann, here are some of the essentials to complete:

  • Create new parent registration at foireann.ie and choose New York/Essex Shillelaghs as your club.
  • Add your photo.
