Tahoe 200 Mile Endurance Run opens Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at 8 a.m. PST
REGISTER HERERace entry will be a lottery and registration will be open for sign up from Jan. 4, 2014 at 8 a.m. PST until Jan. 11, 2014 at 8 a.m PST. Entrants will be announced on Jan. 12, 2014. Applicants will be asked a series of questions that will help us determine who is the best fit for the race and who has good running juju. If you have a qualifying race, please be prepared with information on the race(s) when you signup.
The races
listed here are all qualifiers for the Tahoe 200. The sooner you register on ultrasignup, the easier it will be for us to sift through all the applicants. I would not advise signing up last minute.
Entrants Very Limited: We had really hoped to have 200 runners allowed to do the 2014 Tahoe 200, but the Forest Service is limiting us to 75 runners. We hope that by doing a top notch job this year that we will be able to increase our numbers in 2015. Eventually I'd like to see 500 runners. We will accept 85 runners and have a wait list after that. Once 10 people drop off the entrants list the wait list will begin to move. Why 85? I want as many people to have a chance to begin planning and training for the race as possible. We generally get 25% of all initial signups not running the race.
How many people will be placed on the wait list? I have not decided how many people to place on the wait list. It will depend on how many sign up.
When & how much will I be charged for the race? You will be charged once you are accepted into the race. This will occur on Jan. 12, 2014. Race entry is $850 plus an ultrasignup fee of $42. We regret that with so few runners allowed we cannot include that fee in the registration fee. We will have an option to mail in payment for no fee.
What if I want to enter the lottery for UTMB or Tor des Geants? We kindly ask that you only enter the Tahoe 200 if it is your first choice. There are very limited spots and entrants for the Tahoe 200 who only enter because they might not get into one of the other lotteries are creating extra work for us.
What are the Qualifying requirements? Either #1,2,3 or 4 can be used to sign up:
1. I finished one (or more) mountain 100 mile running races (more than 15,000 feet of ascent) between Jan 1, 2012 and Jan. 4, 2014.
OR
2. I finished two (or more) non-mountainous 100 mile running races (less than 15,000 feet of ascent) between Jan 1, 2012 and Jan. 4, 2014.
OR
3. I have not done a qualifying race, but I plan to do one by August 1, 2014.
OR
4. I have race director approval for a non-traditional qualifier.
You don't need a qualifier to sign up. We are taking into account more than just your qualifying standard when you register. You do have to complete a qualifier by August 1, 2014 or forfeit your entry fee if no one takes your spot off the wait list.
Refund Policy
- Before June 1, 2014, a 100% refund will be provided if a wait listed runner takes your spot. If a wait listed runner does not
take your spot or there are no runners on the wait list, a 60% refund will be given ($510).
- After June 1, 2014 a 50% refund will be provided. However, if no one is on the wait list or no wait listed runners accept entry then no refund will be given
- Refund authority resides solely with the Race Director.
-
Refunds do not include the ultrasignup fee.
-
No transfers will be allowed of race entry fee to next year's race, another race, or another runner.
Surpass the 2015 Lottery? YES! We still need volunteers! Volunteer for 2 days or more and surpass the 2015 lottery! That doesn't mean free entry, but it means you can count on being in the race in 2015. Email Volunteer@Tahoe200.com to get on the roster. We need medics, aid station volunteers, help at the start and the finish, help course marking, and much more.
Aid Station Captains & Free Entry
We have very limited openings for people who want to organize their own aid station and in the process earn free entry for 2014 (yes, this year or next year). You must have someone on the aid station team who is very experienced in volunteering and a total of 10 people for the duration of the aid station.

Please read the entire
Runner's Manual before signing up! It's just smart, plus it's a requirement to signup. Honor system.
Maps of the course can be found
here. The course may need to make some small tweaks as we work out details, but it should be pretty close. I (Candice) will run the entire course this summer and make sure everything is good to go. I have run the entire course before, just in segments.
Oh yeah, the website can be found at
Tahoe200.com. I'm currently updating it with all our new info, so be patient. This email includes the most current info, if something doesn't jive.
Have a last minute question? Read the dang
Runner's Manual already!! But seriously, if you do have a pressing question you can't find on the website or in the manual please email me at Candice@tahoe200.com
Best of luck to everyone! It will only be a lucky few who will blaze the first 200 mile route around stunning Lake Tahoe, the only 200 mile single loop race in America, and in the process become creators in a new direction for ultra distance mountain running and who will be able to say, I was one of the first!
