It can't be MUCH longer..... HAPPY SPRING!
I live in Minnesota, we know what winter is all about (it's snowing again)! But I have found myself looking at the weather maps this winter and shaking my head for all of those folks west, east and south of us who have been really walloped by winter this year.
Weather is not the only thing going crazy this year. Maybe it is just a metaphor for the struggles, discomfort, and confusion we have been seeing in our lives and the lives of those around us. I have seldom had so many calls from friends, clients and even strangers who are asking for help with life events as I have over the past few months.
It seems that our lives have gone off the rails! It feels like a tsunami of problems, crises, unpleasant surprises and challenges to our life balance. So what do we do? How do we deal with this?
Any answers?? Me neither!
I've been feeling really stumped about what to offer people when they call me and ask "What can I DO?" I just don't have any answers. But now I remember hearing Essence say, "If you don't have the answer, you are asking the wrong question." So I'm changing my question to "What do I want to FEEL?"
WOW! Big shift! I realize that by changing the question from, basically, "How do I fix this?" to "What do I want instead of what I have?" I move myself totally out of the reactive place of being acted upon and into a proactive place of creating my own outcome.
It's a variation on the Essence theme of "the answer to HOW is YES!" Stop looking at fixing what you don't want and begin to focus on what it is you DO want. For example: if you have a broken cup and you want to fix it, you don't focus on how it is broken. You focus on how it will look when it's mended. You picture what you want to achieve.
If an artist could only imagine a blank canvas, art would be pretty boring. If a writer could only see the blank page, libraries would be pretty dull.
When you think about all the creative activities we know of like painting and writing, sculpture and movies, music and buildings.... they all start with the vision of what you want to end up with, not what you are lacking.
So what I'm suggesting is that we stop looking at the problem and start FEELING the way it will be different when it changes. Stop picturing all the terrible things that can happen in the Middle East. Stop getting ready for a knock-down, drag-out election battle with absolutely NO sense to it for the next couple of years. Stop picturing how awful it will be if YOUR party doesn't get its candidate elected.
Start feeling how good it will feel when things are calm and peaceful in the world. Everyone has enough to eat, everyone feels loved and safe and interested in the rest of the world rather than terrified of it.
Now I'm not saying we won't have to do some work to get those things -- but we probably won't have to work as hard or as long as our logical minds tell us. By focusing on what we want to feel about the world, without putting a face on the next president, or the next leader of some foreign nation, we can open ourselves to allow the Universe to bring it to us in ways we couldn't possibly imagine. Maybe even EASILY! Certainly BETTER than we could imagine!
In our everyday lives, let's try going to bed each night and connecting to the "feeling" we want in our lives. Instead of worrying about some awful the problem you are dealing with, start thinking about how good it will feel it's gone. What if we started "feeling" how nice it would be to just accept everyone we meet and love them -- unconditionally.
If we can imagine it, the Universe can create it -- maybe not in the way we thought, but probably better.
I heard the other day about a small boy who had a problem at school because he had chewed his pop-tart into the shape of a gun. Now, I'm not for guns in schools, but that was certainly an example of creating something strictly from your own vision of it. It's a start! Now if we can move him into a more pacifist vision.....
Much love,
Lynda
