A Message From Our Board Chairman- Patty Kincaid
Hello, Friends of EricsHouse!

As you may have gathered from the recent mailings and social media posts, EricsHouse is in the middle of a full-court press to spread the word about our commitment to grief support after a traumatic loss!

Our upcoming event is called EricsHouse 2020 Friends and FundRaiser because we want to grow. We need more friends! The more who learn about our services, the more loss survivors we can support. The statistics show that almost everyone we know has been affected in some way by suicide, alcohol, or drugs. Our members tell us all the time that EricsHouse provided a safe place to grieve, a community of support that was different than anything else they had experienced, and gave them hope that they could move forward.

We also need to raise funds to expand the training of new Grief Specialists and outreach into the community. Your donations and those of your friends and family will help us grow our team of caring, compassionate providers and increase the number of members we can support. Our commitment to serving loss survivors extends outside of the Phoenix area, and we hope to expand our online grief support and physical locations nationwide in the coming year.

Please join us and invite others to our virtual event on Saturday, October 10th, from 1:00 pm -5:00 pm pacific time.  Hear from our Founder, Marianne Gouveia, and many of our Loss Survivors as they share their inspiring stories. We have exciting raffle items, and we'll have a live session with our friend and amazing Evidential Medium, Melinda Vail. Local chef and cookbook author, Jan D'Atri, will teach us how to make Amish Friendship Bread Starter so we can honor our loved ones while baking! Closing out our celebration will be 99.9 KEZ Morning Host, Beth McDonald, creating a beverage just for EricsHouse!

Don't miss the fun! Join us here on Saturday, 10/10, at 1pm pacific time.
As always, we couldn't do this without you. Thank you!

Warmest regards,
Patty Kincaid

History of the Opioid Epidemic
Article by: Scottsdale Recovery
Addiction is known to affect a large population worldwide. Though there are various causes of addiction, abusing prescribed medications has become a global issue. Many patients who consume prescribed medications such as opioids continue to use them even after the treatment has ended. This poses a great problem among the medical community as the very drugs which are meant to direct the health of an individual to betterment are being misused to further degrade their health.

Inspiration for October
In addition to providing grief support after a loss and holistic support as part of our Integrative Grief Care model, we offer several alternative therapies to support emotional, physical, and spiritual healing. We work with individuals who have lost someone they love unexpectedly with a specialization in suicide and substance losses.
