We will be leaving the church parking lot at 12:00 noon, so please make sure to check in by 11:45 a.m. The tour is of moderate activity level, so it's perfect for everyone.  After the tour, we will be enjoying a delicious late lunch at Cleburne’s Cafeteria on Bissonnet. Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to explore the museum and enjoy great food with friends.  Remember, our Precinct bus trips are open to the greater community 50 years or older. So, come join us for a day filled with art, food, and fun! If you have any questions or would like to join us, please contact Kathleen Bradford, Jeaneth Reid, or Peggy Villarreal through the Church office at 713-774-9619. See you there!

Annual Parish Meeting

Please join us for the Annual Parish Meeting on Sunday, January 28th, in the Parish Hall immediately following the 10:30 a.m. service. There will only be one service that Sunday. During the meeting you will receive ministry updates from 2023, budget information for 2024, and confirm Vestry, ECHOS Board, and Council Delegate nominees. We hope to conclude business by 12:30 p.m. Our Annual Meeting is an important event for our Parish.  Join us as we move forward into the new year of our Parish life together.

Shrove Tuesday Choir Fundraiser

Shrove Tuesday is February 13th, and the evening includes a gumbo and pancake dinner, music, and a silent auction. Tickets will go on sale January 21st for $15 (Adult) and $10 (Child) on the patio. Save the date and help support our music program.

ECHOS Healthy Connections Luncheon

Save the date for the 2024 ECHOS Healthy Connections Luncheon, which will take place on Wednesday, February 21st from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Junior League of Houston Ballroom. The event features a roundtable discussion with esteemed professionals in the field of healthcare access and non-medical drivers of health, including Dr. Ann Barnes, Dr. Sanghamitra Misra, and the Rev. Sponsorship opportunities are also available, so visit ECHOS2024.givesmart.com to learn more and get involved. We hope to see you there!

Stewardship

Treasure's note: Last year ended with below normal collections for the last two Sundays, but 2024 has started off well. Our current bank balance is $22.080.90 which is a good start. Meeting our $400,000 goal for pledges in combination with a significant increase in income from rentals should get us through the tough months of summer. - Louis

Grand Friends

Epiphany is bringing back the Grand Friends program in 2024, an initiative started by Pat Schroyer in the late 1990s to foster deeper connections between the younger and older generations of parishioners. The program is easy to participate in. Simply contact the Church office or coordinators, Pat Schroyer and Kathleen Bradford, to sign up. Participants will be paired with a Grand Friend and encouraged to connect with them through phone calls, visits, and other activities. The aim of the program is to bring the Church community closer together and promote a culture of care and support. Contact Pat or Kathleen through the Church office at 713-774-9619 if you have any questions or concerns.

Answer to last week's question:

The apostle Paul wrote this grim passage to the Romans. "And even as they _____, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."

Answer: did not like to retain God in their knowledge.   (See: Romans 1:28-32)

Prayer for the Day

Almighty God, your Son our Savior Jesus Christ is the Light of the world; so help your people, enlightened by your Word and Sacraments, to shine forth and make Christ known to the ends of the earth.  Amen
