Multicultural Day of Innovation celebrates diversity within entrepreneurship
Biomedical engineering juniors Resty Mercado, Joshua de Guzman, Marissa Pestritto, and senior Erica Tran, Rowan University's 2024 University Innovation Fellows (UIF), are on a mission to enhance student life through innovation. The fellows organized a Multicultural Day of Innovation after recognizing the need to bridge awareness of entrepreneurship offerings to multicultural groups on campus.
Multicultural organization leaders, student startup founders, and community entrepreneurs came together for a day of interactive workshops and discussions. Together, they explored problem-solving and design thinking strategies tailored to their own entrepreneurial journeys.
“You can have this mindset, any place, any major you’re in, any culture. And innovation and driving entrepreneurial mindsets, it’s available to everyone, you just have to have an outlet to where you can kind of take advantage of it,” said Tran.
Next month, the fellows will continue their journey and travel to the University of Twente in The Netherlands. There, they will network and collaborate with other UIFs from around the globe.
