Hello GLF supporters,
We rang in 2021 full of optimism for the New Year. While some things remain the same - the library doors remain shuttered, and the snow keeps on falling – hope springs eternal. We can’t wait for Goodnow to open once the state and town protocols allow!
With enthusiasm and positivity, we at the Foundation continue our work in order to provide the extra margin of excellence for Goodnow. We remain dedicated to our visionary thinking and are committed to working in tandem with Library Director Esmé Green, Library Trustees, and Sudbury town officials.
Our most exciting priority is the upcoming refurbishment of the Historical Room so that we can open it to the public as a quiet room for reading, studying, and writing. We are finalizing detailed plans for this renovation that for years our patrons have been asking for. We are thrilled that we can finally make this happen! The GLF has committed $50,000 to this project to supplement the $150,000 funding that was approved by the Community Preservation Act in September. The renovation will also include the rehabilitation of existing shelving for the local history book collections and art collections; and it will provide secure and customized storage for Goodnow’s unique documents, maps, and artifacts in its local history collection.
You will be hearing more from us in the coming months about the Historical Room project. If you would like to make a contribution specifically for this project, or would like to learn more, please contact me via email or by phone at (978) 440-5562.
Finally, I’d like to hear how YOU have been using the Library during the pandemic. What do you miss the most about having its doors open? Drop me an email at goodnowlibraryfoundation@gmail.com.
Please stay warm and stay well,
Holly
