Announcing New Hands –On M96/M97 and Type 4 Engine Classes for 2025!

Jake Raby’s The Knowledge Gruppe offers specialized training for technicians and enthusiasts eager to deepen their understanding of Porsche vehicles and engines. Their classes combine both online and in-person learning environments. Online courses provide initial information, laying the foundation for participants to advance to the classroom and lab settings, where hands-on instruction takes place. This unique approach to learning builds confidence and ensures that attendees arrive at the hands-on classes with a more consistent and thorough level of training.

M96/M97 Engine Rebuild Hands-on Class 102 for Professionals

Date: Thursday, 01/30/25 to Sunday, 02/02/25

Location: LN Engineering, Momence, IL

Four days of hands-on instruction – Fast paced learning experience – Real engine – Real problem solving

For professionals only. Enthusiast and DIY classes will be announced and held separately. Attendees will be qualified for evaluation to become an LN/FSI Certified Engine Assembler or IMS Solution Certified Installer.

The attendees also learn a lot about disassembly and reassembly to support internal engine repair operations for engines that don’t require a “rebuild”, but have experienced a mechanical malfunction.

• Disassembling & reassembling an engine for repair purposes, rather than rebuild

On the first day of the class the group will disassemble M96/97 engines and learn the basics of the engine component layout. The remaining days of the class are dedicated to assembly of an updated stock M96/97 engine and labs. The labs during this class are of great value as 3 mock engines are used for both 3 and 5 chain camshaft timing, and wrist pin installation using different forms of factory and Raby-developed special tools.

The LN Engineering facility is located at 125 Gladiolus St, Momence, IL 60954, about 60 min drive south of Chicago, IL. Travel time from O’Hare or Midway Airport is about 75-90 minutes. Several hotels available in Bradley / Bourbonnais near the Northfield Square Mall.

The 4th Dimension

Date: Thursday, 02/27/25 to Sunday, 03/02/25

Location: Monroe, GA

Hands-on, 4-day class held at Raby’s Aircooled Technology. Be prepared to stuff knowledge and spend 12-14 hour days learning the tips, tricks and secrets of T4 engine building! In this class we will share the basics online in a 4 hour class one week before the hands- on class. This will allow for a minimum of classroom time while on site, with most time being spent in the shop/ lab. We will do the following:

• Build a complete 2270cc T4 engine
• Perform machine work to crankcases to include cylinder register boring, and align boring
• Perform cylinder head flow tests
• Perform camshaft profiling
• Dyno test the completed engine.
