Drop off/ Pick Up Reminders

As the school year nears the end we want to remind our families of our pick-up and drop-off procedures for the safety of our campus. Below is a reminder of what those procedures are. Below are the general procedure reminders.

  • Parents and student drivers enter the back of the school off Tierwester and exit on Southmore. It's a one-way drive.
  • Only buses are allowed in the front from 7:15-7:40 and 2:30-3:15 PM. Students who are dropped off in this area during these times will receive a detention.
  • Do not stop on Southmore/Tierwester to drop off students.
  • After entering off Tierwester, the left lane is for student drivers heading to the student parking lot. The right lane is for parents dropping off. This is the only section to pick up or drop off students.
  • The right lane should keep moving up as it is possible. Pull all the way up. On the driveway stretch near the canopy, you should pull almost up to Southmore if it’s clear.
  • Do not leave gaps between cars. Pull all the way up.
  • Never drop off in the student parking lot. Cones will be set-up blocking the exit.
  • Be kind and respectful to everyone!
  • Watch for the admin directing traffic. Follow their directions and be kind!
  • Student drivers need to follow proper procedures to get a parking permit and should not park on Southmore for their own safety.
  • Student drivers can only cross at the crosswalk!

  • Students can get lunch detention for accumulated tardies for any classes throughout the day.

Clothing SWAP

Are you looking to do some spring cleaning or improve your style? Energy is hosting a clothing swap that incorporates both. A clothing swap is exactly what it sounds like give clothes, get clothes! Bring your gently-used garments to school to exchange for tickets. Drop these clothes off in the blue-labeled boxes at Energy’s three main entrances.

When you scan the QR code on the box to document how many clothes you donated, you will receive digital tickets that can be exchanged for clothes at the swap. You can also find this QR code on flyers posted around the school.

One ticket = one item of clothing. The clothes collection closes on Monday, April 22nd. Remember to trade in your clothes before you attend the swap. Anyone can participate! Clothes Donation Form: https://forms.gle/44osTXB7oYnUqhBH8

For more information, go to www.tinyurl.com/rewardrobe or email isabelle.zaske@yahoo.com. See you Thursday, April 25, in the cafeteria after school from 3:05 to 5:00.

DeBakey Cell Lab Internship at The Health Museum

The Health Museum is proud to announce the launch of a high school internship program this summer, which will be held in the esteemed DeBakey Cell Lab. The program will offer aspiring interns the invaluable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the lab while also receiving professional development training. This six-week program will include professional development sessions on Saturdays in collaboration with professionals from the Texas Medical Center. This is an unpaid internship. However, the professional development courses are quite valuable.

We are confident that the high school internship program will provide an enriching and insightful experience for all participants and have the potential to inspire and enable future generations of medical professionals and scientists.

More details about the program can be found at

Friends of Energy Luncheon

Friends of Energy is hosting a luncheon on May 7th to celebrate 10 years of EIHS successfully building up the future energy workforce and to help raise funds to support the next 10 years! We'd like to extend an invitation to EIHS parents.

We have an amazing group of panelists who will lead a discussion on the current state of the energy industry and the way EIHS is helping to shape its future leaders. We'd like to offer EIHS parents an opportunity to attend. They can purchase individual seats for $100 or tables for $1250. We believe this is a great opportunity to connect Houston's energy community with the school and give potential corporate volunteers and sponsors a chance to learn what EIHS is all about.

Congratulations to our Tesla Winner Ms. Girard!

Ms. Girard, Science Teacher

Ms. Colombo presented the Mr. Tesla Award to Ms. Girard. She said, " In the solar system that is Energy Institute this person is a supernova. Supernova explosions are extremely bright and powerful and this teacher harnesses her supernova power day in and day out constantly supporting her students and colleagues. Her brightness is felt as she takes the time to work with students after school almost every day. She harnesses her power to empower her students to strive for their best and support her colleagues in numerous ways - through kind words or offers of support and encouragement that do not go unnoticed. Her energy radiates throughout our solar system and she is highly deserving of the Tesla Award: Presley Girard!"

Congratulations to Ms. Girard!
