A Note from Josh

Happy Thursday, everyone!

I hope that y'all are having a wonderful week! I am currently in Texas for a friend's wedding and for Mother's Day, so I will not be there on Sunday! I get back to Indy on Tuesday morning. I'm gonna keep this email pretty brief! Below, you will find our end-of-year updates for youth group with some details about what is to come this summer.

Highlights

NO Youth Group

May 12

Due to Mother's Day, we do NOT have youth group this coming Sunday. We will miss y'all but enjoy the afternoon with your moms or moms of choice!

Rev. Carolyn Reed Preaching

May 12 @ 9:30 & 11:00

Rev. Carolyn Casey Reed is retiring as our Associate Regional Minister at the end of this month! We are one of her last stops on her "farewell tour" and are thrilled to welcome her to ACC on Sunday!

There will be a celebration of Carolyn and her life-bringing ministry at Coffee Café on Sunday. Please make plans to be there!

Mission Trip Stock Sale

April 28 - May 26

Our last North Carolina fundraiser starts on Sunday. We will be selling shares of the mission trip for $10 each! Anyone who purchases a share (or several!) is invited to the Shareholders Lunch on August 18 to hear about the trip.

The youth group is responsible for staffing the table in the Narthex and soliciting donations from their friends, family, neighbors, etc.

Youth Sunday

May 19 @ 9:30 and 11:00

Youth Sunday is officially on the calendar! We will be planning it during some youth group time in April and early May. Please plan on attending both services that Sunday.

If you were not at the retreat, please watch your texts for a message from Josh about a role for you in Youth Sunday. Thanks!

Youth Group End of Year Party

May 19 @ 12:00

Our End of Year party for youth group is here! It is the same day as Youth Sunday! Please bring a swimsuit, a towel, and a CHANGE OF CLOTHES for at the end. We will be playing water games once again- with a new twist this year!

Bring a friend (or several), I promise you will not want to miss this!!!

Watch this space next week for an announcement about our summer fun planned for the youth ministry! Other than the usual things (mission trip and camp), we have some awesome stuff planned for the summer season while weekly youth group is on break.

Mission Trip Shareholders Lunch

August 18 @ 12:00

Mark your calendars NOW for Sunday, August 18. This is the date of our Shareholders Lunch for the North Carolina Mission Trip.

The youth group mission trip participants will prepare the lunch for our mission trip donors, serve the lunch, and then each of them will talk about their experience on the trip.

This has been a hugely successful fundraiser so far, so please plan on your youth attending this lunch if they are going on the trip.

Mission Trip 2024

June 9-15, 2024

Your mission trip RSVP is past due. If you would still like to go, we have ONE slot left. You can secure your spot with a $50 deposit, but we have funding available if the cost is difficult. The other payment due dates are as follows:

$50 ASAP

$100 March 31

$100 April 21

$150 May 19

Vacation Bible School

July 14-17

VBS will be here soon! This year our theme is Camp Firelight, all about how God is with us in the wilderness when we are camping! Mark your calendars now, younger kids can participate, youth group members can volunteer with the fun!

This will count as volunteer hours for youth who need them.

Summer Camp Dates

Summer 2024

Register for church camp if you haven't yet! I know this is a new thing for many of us, and if you haven't been to Bedford yet it might feel new for you too. I really can't say enough about how formative and incredible these camp experiences can be. I also really, really would like for our youth to start trying it out more and getting plugged into this special ministry. I am directing the High School camp and it is already shaping up to be an amazing week of camp! All of the other ones will be just as wonderful.

I am more than happy to talk to any of y'all about church camp and why it's important, what happens at it, etc. I'm also happy to connect you with the directors of the camp your kids are interested in.

Allisonville covers HALF the cost of camp (more than many congregations in the region) because we really believe in this ministry. But, we are also willing and able to cover more of the cost if needed. Camp is a fantastic experience and should be accessible to every youth who wants to go. So, with that, register for camp!!

One of my favorite parts of my job here is to get to cheer on our kids doing what they love. Whether that's a soccer game, baseball game, band concert, or dance recital- I want to be there to support them!

We have started using a texting service where we can send reminders through text and not just email! It’s called FlockNotes and is super easy to use. When you get a text from an 833 number, don’t block it, it’s be from us!
