End State Terror and Violence

“My own concern is primarily the terror and violence carried out by my own state,

for two reasons. For one thing, because it happens to be the larger component of international violence. But also for a much more important reason than that;

namely, I can do something about it.”—Noam Chomsky

Dear Resister,

Thank you for choosing to stand on the right side of history. Resist’s founders’ original call to resist illegitimate authority was in opposition to the proxy war in Vietnam. They supported resistance to the draft by issuing a call to action. This call came after numerous international agreements were violated, including the destruction of livestock and crops, burning of entire villages, mass murder of civilians, forcing of civilians into concentration camps — and more needless, horrific violence.

Anti-militarism has been deeply ingrained in Resist’s politics and is a value all iterations of our organization have carried forward. Support anti-military groups bringing peace and justice in your community and globally with a tax deductible gift today.

Resist grantees are still fighting against deadly militarization and war crimes, as they witness the United States provide billions of dollars in military aid to imperialist powers. Last year alone, the U.S. handed Israel $3.8 billion dollars in military aid.

Many of our grantees are organizing internationally and carrying the mission of Resist for justice and liberation around the world from El Salvador to Palestine. Today, the world watches in horror as the genocide of Palestinians rages on. As we write this, over 3,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli airstrikes, 1,030 of them are children and that number continues to grow exponentially. Residential buildings, hospitals, schools, and universities have been bombed. Food, water, electricity, fuel, and medical supplies have been completely blocked from entering the besieged Gaza Strip and white phosphorus rains over a population of 2.2 million civilians.

Our grantees on the ground including Palestinian Youth Movement, National Students for Justice in Palestine, Within Our Lifetime, and the Palestinian Feminist Collective are raising collective awareness, organizing masses of people, and demanding in every which way for an immediate ceasefire as well as an end to the structural violence of settler colonialism and military occupation.

Anti-militarism is by default an international struggle. Our grantees diligently organize against war and occupation by drawing connections between U.S. policies and the rest of the world. It is through these connections that they build beautiful solidarity for an ultimately peaceful world.

All of us have a role to play in ending state violence. The struggle to end state terror continues — with you.

We’re building an emergency rapid response fund for grassroots groups responding to the needs of Palestinians here and abroad. Please be generous, and  donate today so these groups can continue their crucial work of bringing forth justice worldwide.

On Monday, October 16th, Representative Cori Bush introduced the Ceasefire Now Resolution, urging President Biden to push for and facilitate a cease-fire and de-escalation of the genocide taking place in Gaza and “promptly send and facilitate the entry of humanitarian assistance into Gaza.”
