Season 10 Films

Hello Eric,

Encircle Films Presents Season 10 ends its season on May 17th with the film "Theaters of War: How the Pentagon and CIA Took Hollywood."

The Encircle Films Board of Directors thanks everyone for coming to this season's documentary screenings, and for their ongoing support so we can continue to bring important documentaries to the Eugene community. Our mission is to "inform and inspire action", and we look forward to doing that starting up again next Fall in Season 11.

The Encircle Films Board will be taking time this summer to meet, research, and plan documentary screenings for Season 11, starting in September. If you have a particular documentary or topic area you would like to suggest for our consideration, please do! Email us at: info@encirclefilms.org

We invite you to join us for our last film of the season, and hope to see you there!

Feedback on how we're doing is always appreciated!

Theaters of War: How the Pentagon and the CIA Took Hollywood.

If you’ve seen Top Gun or Transformers, you may have wondered: Does all of that military machinery on screen come with strings attached? Does the military actually get a crack at the script?

Theaters of War digs deep into a vast new trove of recently released internal government documents to bring the answers to these questions into sharp focus.

Are you coming to the May film?

Norman Solomon - Guest Panelist

Encircle Films is pleased have Norman Solomon for an after film Q&A session for "Theaters of War: How the Pentagon and the CIA Took Hollywood."

Norman is an American journalist, media critic, author and activist. His latest book, "War Made Invisible: How America Hides the Human Toll of Its Military Machine," will be published by The New Press in June 2023. In a starred review, Kirkus Reviews called the book “a powerful, necessary indictment of efforts to disguise the human toll of American foreign policy.”

Solomon's dozen other books include "War Made Easy: How Presidents and Pundits Keep Spinning Us to Death.” A full-length documentary film, narrated by Sean Penn, was based on "War Made Easy." The New York Times review called the film "ultimately persuasive" and said: "Many of its arguments have been made before … but Mr. Solomon digs deeper and hammers harder."

Solomon is the founder of the Institute for Public Accuracy, a consortium of policy researchers and analysts. He is IPA's executive director and the coordinator of its ExposeFacts program.

He is co-founder and national director of the online organization https://RootsAction.org, which now has upwards of 1.3 million online supporters. To sign up, go to https://rootsaction.org/join-us
