Mental Wellness Month
Like physical health, our mental health is affected by many external and internal factors in our lives. How we treat ourselves can directly affect whether our mental health is positive or not. Mental wellness is the ability to cope with life’s stressors while maintaining a good quality of life. It’s about building up the tools we need to find resilience when life feels depleting. Even if you are diagnosed with a chronic mental illness, such as depression or anxiety, there are ways to help you maintain mental wellness through life’s struggles. Practice mindfulness, rest, gratitude, and asking for help.
National Mentoring Month
Launched in 2002 by MENTOR National and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, National Mentoring Month focuses national attention on the need for mentors, as well as how each of us—individuals, businesses, government agencies, schools, faith communities and nonprofits—can work together to increase the number of mentors to help ensure positive outcomes for our young people. This campaign celebrates mentoring and the positive effect it can have on young lives. Its goals are to:
- Raise awareness of mentoring in its various forms
- Recruit individuals to mentor, especially in programs that have waiting lists of young people
- Promote the rapid growth of mentoring by recruiting organizations to engage their constituents in mentoring

Global Family Day (Jan.1)
Global Family Day is celebrated each year on 1st January, but since it is something that evolved almost spontaneously, it is hard to pin down its actual origins.
Traditionally come to be a day to consider ways of promoting peace, both within local communities and in the wider world.
In November 1997 the UN General Assembly made a declaration that the first year of the new millennium should see the launch of an International Decade for the Culture of Peace and non-violence for the Children of the World and that the decade should be ushered in by "One Day of Peace".
In November 1999 a formal invitation to participate was sent to all UN member states and the declaration was soon followed by a vote in the US Congress that backed this up by establishing the first day of the year as a special time of peace and sharing.
Although not universally adopted, this first "Day of Peace" was felt to be so significant that in 2001 the United Nations established this Observance as an annual event. The event has now become known as Global Family Day and is recognized by more than two thirds of the world's population.
Global Family Day also recognizes that we are all part of the global family that makes up the human race.
Human Trafficking Awareness Day (Jan.11)
There are an estimated 4.8 million victims of sex trafficking worldwide, with the United States leading all other nations in driving demand for purchased sex. Women, men, girls and boys are all victims of sex trafficking in the United States, and the problem continues to grow.
National Clean Off Your Desk Day (Jan.10)
The second Monday of January each year recognizes National Clean Off Your Desk Day.
This day is an opportunity to begin your new year with a clean and organized workspace. Whether your desk is in a private or shared office, cubicle, home or a make-shift desk on the counter, having your workspace uncluttered and organized will help you work more efficiently. A clean workspace improves productivity and inspires us, too. It often gives us a sense of serenity.
National Fun At Work Day (Jan.28)
Fun At Work Day is a holiday that is celebrated on January 28th each and every year.
it’s a holiday that’s not only embraced by the workers but management as well. That’s because most people know that allowing workers to have a little fun at work every once in awhile increases productivity, leads to higher employee retention and makes a more positive work environment. This leads to more productive, creative and loyal workers.
