UNITED WAY REPORT SHOWS 37% OF MIAMI-DADE RESIDENTS IN NEED

A new United Way report highlights a growing number of individuals and families who work but are unable to meet their basic needs. Known as the ALICE report, the data reveals that out of Florida's 8.8 million households, 33% can’t afford food, child care, housing, health care, and transportation despite being employed. That’s one reason we are constantly looking for ways to build affordable and workforce housing for Miami-Dade residents.

She speaks about how her faith led her to her dream apartment at Li'l Abner II. “We’re a community, getting to know each other, and living together because that’s what the Lord wants, unity, and unity makes us stronger," Yaneth expressed. “I’m very grateful for everything, I feel at peace.”

LI'L ABNER FOUNDATION'S

FIRST KYUDO CLASS

We’re excited to share that the Li'l Abner Foundation, led by CREI Holdings' Raul Rodriguez, recently hosted their first Kyudo class at our community center in Sweetwater. Participants had the unique opportunity to learn the traditional Japanese art of archery, cultivating discipline and mindfulness through this enriching cultural experience.

The foundation continues to make a significant impact on the lives of low-income Miami-Dade kids and their families by offering such meaningful activities. Don’t miss out on their next Kyudo seminar on August 17th!

ART CLASSES FOR SENIORS AT SWEETWATER COMMUNITY CENTER

Thanks to the support of the Sweetwater government, seniors can now discover their inner artist at Sweetwater Community Center every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, through engaging art classes tailored just for them!

Founded by Raul F. Rodriguez in 2009, the Li’l Abner Foundation has grown in the number of programs and participants. It also moved to a new and better location and increased its beneficial impact on the community. The foundation offers programs such as archery, taekwondo, and dance classes to more than 20,000 residents of the City of Sweetwater. It also offers scholastic programs, including scholarships for children to attend Belen Jesuit Preparatory School from 6th to 12th grades and scholarships for adults to attend Florida International University for up to 5 years to earn a degree. The goal is simple: improve the lives of all residents in our community.
