Women-owned small businesses are a vital part of the global economy, contributing significantly to job creation, innovation, and economic growth. Despite the challenges, women entrepreneurs are increasingly stepping into leadership roles, driving change, and making substantial impacts in various industries. In this blog, we'll explore the current state of women-owned small businesses, the challenges they face, and the opportunities available for growth and support.
Women-owned businesses are growing rapidly. According to the most recent Census Bureau data, Women own more than 12 million businesses and employ over 10.7 million workers, reflecting a steady increase over the past decade. These businesses span a wide range of industries, from retail and healthcare to professional services and technology.
Women-owned businesses have been showing significant growth across various industries. Notably, from 2019 to 2023, sectors like finance, insurance, real estate, transportation, and the warehouse industry saw the most substantial growth (50%). In addition, women owned businesses are predicted to contribute about 6% to the anticipated global economic growth.

Save the Date: 25th Anniversary Fashion Show
Save the date for this year's particularly special event, as we're celebrating not only our amazing clients who have experienced great success in their personal journeys to self-sufficiency, but also the 25th anniversary of Dress for Success Cincinnati!
Scheduled for Friday, November 1, 2024, at 7:00 pm in the Cincinnati Museum Center, The Fashion Show is our biggest fundraiser of the year. To make this year extra special and to celebrate our anniversary, we are hosting a formal, cocktail style evening event for the first time!

In addition, we look forward to celebrating in a new iconic location with a fresh vibe, offering our supporters an unforgettable experience. Our fabulous fashion show will remain, with assigned seating along the runway.

GRAD Cincinnati Visits DFSC

DFSC Visits Bethany House Services
Last month, we took our Mobile Career Transformation Center to Bethany House Services to style their residents in professional outfits for upcoming interviews!
Our Mobile Transformation Center allows us to travel to organizations to meet women where they are. By traveling to them, we help eliminate transportation as a barrier to women who are in need of our services.

Dress for Success Cincinnati is thrilled to announce a $7,500 grant from the Elsa Sule Foundation to support our satellite location at the Life Learning Center (LLC) in Covington. This funding will help us better assist women in Northern Kentucky.
Opened in 2022, the LLC location makes our services more accessible, removing barriers for women in Northern Kentucky. The grant enables us to support women candidates at LLC and other clients who find this location more convenient, helping more women achieve economic independence.
We deeply thank the Elsa Sule Foundation for their generous support and commitment to our mission, significantly impacting the community together.

Salsa on the Square

Salsa on the Square, brought to you by P&G, is coming back to Fountain Square every Thursday from 7-10pm! This event features live local and regional Latin bands specializing in Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, and Latin Jazz. In addition to the live music, local dance instructors host large dance classes teaching basic and intermediate Latin dancing. All Fountain Square performances are FREE and open to the public. Norwood Day

Norwood Day starts at noon with the American Legion's opening ceremony and tours of the Veterans Memorial, followed by a fire truck visit and an inflatable bouncer available all day. Enjoy free kids' games with prizes, a cornhole tournament with cash prizes, and an extensive basket raffle.
