Door County Community
on Transition
We Are HOPE, Inc. | The EmployAbility HUB is a member of the Door County Community on Transition whose focus is on helping youth with disabilities and their families with transition planning and navigating life after high school.
On April 18th We Are HOPE, Inc. | The EmployAbility HUB hosted the Disability & Transition Resource Fair that had over 24 vendors attending. This was a great opportunity to help families gather information on these amazing resources in one location.
Some of the attendees said “Come and enjoy this and see what works for you”, “It’s great to have all these community resources to help youth transition to adulthood” “You can see you are not alone”.

"I am Home"
We began to work with a participant who had multiple barriers to employment, which included having a disability and being justice-involved.
We worked with them with pre-employment activities to prepare them for the job search process and then worked side by side with them to find employment that worked with their interests and work restrictions and well as looking at their public benefits to help them plan for the effect of increased income on them.
They have currently been working two months and recently stated “I am home”.

A Message From Our Executive Director | | |

I am so proud to be a part of an organization that has served the community with valuable employment resources, including the Door County Job Center since 1978. Starting as Women’s Employment Project we transformed into We Are HOPE, Inc. in 2013, and then refreshed as We Are HOPE, Inc. | The EmployAbility HUB in 2022.
I started my personal journey in 2001 when I walked through the doors and experienced the services, resources and most importantly the empowerment and mentoring of the staff. My path took me through training and volunteering that lead to being hired and eventually brought me to the opportunity 2019 to serve as Executive Director. These last 23 years have taught me it indeed “takes a village” and that is why the staff and board are excited to announce a quarterly newsletter. We invite you to join us in learning about ways we can work together to strengthen our community’s workforce.
