District 5 is teaming up with Prospera USA to kick off the upcoming installment of the Financial Works Master Class this September. This is a fantastic chance for small business owners to dive into vital "back office" strategies that are essential for achieving sustainability and profitability. Commissioner Higgins, in collaboration with Partners for Self-Employment, is gearing up to introduce the New Heights Microloan Fund exclusively for District 5 businesses. Recognizing the vital importance of bolstering small enterprises financially, this initiative is all about empowerment. Through microloans, we're here to provide the boost that small businesses need.
The program's first phase is set to launch on September 25, targeting businesses that have successfully completed at least one Elevate D5 program. If you're interested in applying for the microloan or have questions about eligibility, please complete this form.

What is the origin story of your business?
We created DoMi Real Estate Advisors out of a need to provide real estate services to people interested in the Downtown Miami (DoMi) area. We are a group of local, passionate real estate professionals who love working with customers in our area and we believe that our industry allows us to shape our community.
What is your best piece of advice for fellow business owners?
Whatever you do, keep your eye on the prize! Keep going and don't give up. You are your own best resource. Make sure you use your support system to help your business grow and succeed.
What Elevate D5 programs have you completed and how have they helped you?
We have participated in a few Elevate D5 programs: we graduated from BizHack's "How to Find Customers Online," we have successfully completed The Idea Center's "Scale Up D5," and we are proud past recipients of District 5 "Mom and Pop Business Grant." We also are part of the first businesses to receive the New Heights Microloan Fund. Thank you Commissioner Higgins!
What is a major business challenge that you overcame?
One of our biggest challenges was wanting to do it all ourselves. Learning how to find support and a community of other like-minded entrepreneurs was something that we had to overcome. Through the program's offered, we have been able to create a support system in which we not only collaborate and provide referrals, but also exchange ideas and strategies to grow our business and model. District 5 has created an amazing community of business owners that rely on each other for our continued success.

Small Business Workshop
Are you ready to take your business to the next level? Elevate your business with this free program designed to provide you with the tools and skills necessary for its growth, all while guiding you through the creation of your business plan. This workshop is in Spanish only.

Fifteen sessions will be held from September 5 to October 5, 2023. Sessions held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Graduation will be on October 11, 2023.
Requirements:
- Operational businesses for at least 6 months
- Minimum of 51% of shareholders must be from minority groups
- Businesses located in Broward, Miami-Dade, or Monroe County
- Minorities as defined by Florida State statutes, including African Americans, Hispanics, Asians, Native Americans, and Women

¿Cuál es el mayor reto empresarial que han superado?
Uno de nuestros mayores retos fue querer hacerlo todo nosotros. Aprender a encontrar apoyo y una comunidad de otros empresarios con ideas afines fue algo que tuvimos que superar. Gracias a la oferta del programa, hemos podido crear un sistema de apoyo en el que no sólo colaboramos y nos proporcionamos referencias, sino que también intercambiamos ideas y estrategias para hacer crecer nuestro negocio y nuestro modelo. Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) Webinar
