MARCH 2023 NEWSLETTER

A NOTE FROM BRYAN

Spring time is upon us, and the newness of this season gives us fresh hope for the work happening in our community to empower our neighbors. As we’re committing to addressing the primary challenges in our community, we invite you to take part and learn more about how you can get involved! They say it takes a village to raise one child, and if that’s true, it really does take all of us to create a community where our neighbors are empowered with the resources needed to find their potential. Read more about what’s coming up this month and how you can take part below.

INTRODUCING ELEVATE RIDES FEATURING MYCITYRIDES BRANSON

Our new affordable transportation initiative is finally here, and we’re looking forward to the impact this program will have on our workforce in our community. Not only will this program address the challenge that a lack of public transit presents to Branson residents, Elevate Rides also aims to aid local businesses with employee retention and dollars saved in turn over costs. Employers can partner with us to provide their employees with affordable, sustainable scooter ownership. We provide the gear, training, regular maintenance and liability insurance, so our workforce can focus on forward mobility to their workplace and beyond. Employed individuals in Stone and Taney Counties can be outfitted with a brand-new scooter and all the additional services aforementioned for just $5 a day - significantly less than what it costs to catch an Uber - and after 36 months, the scooter is theirs for good. Learn more about Elevate Rides featuring MyCityRides Branson here.

EMPOWERING ENTREPRENEURS

We hosted an Elevate Entrepreneurs Business Workshop featuring members of Silver Dollar City’s marketing team to equip local businesses and small start ups with what they need to know about basic marketing tools and best practices. Janet Oller, VP of Marketing, Lisa Rau, Director of Public Relations, Joey Thorsen, Creative Director, and Nick Guevel, VP of Market Strategy, joined us for lunch provided by Tacos No. 1, and shared their professional insights on how to best market your business and build your brand. This Elevate Entrepreneurs Business Workshop is the first of many to come in order to support and empower individuals pursuing entrepreneurship in our community.

STEPPING STONES WITH ELEVATE WORK

Our next Elevate Work class begins March 27th! Are you looking to take the next right steps towards unlocking your potential? There is no better time than the present. Childcare, dinner and transportation are provided. It’s just $20 for the application fee, and the nine-week course is free. Not interested in taking the course, but still want to be involved? Contact Donna McConkey at Donna.McConkey@ElevateBranson.org to learn more about being apart of our Business Panel, or becoming a mentor to invest in our neighbors looking to reroute and rebuild their futures.

MEET OUR NEIGHBOR, BRIAN

Brian is a graduate of the March 2021 Elevate Work class, and has been employed with Pizza Ranch ever since. Brian credits Elevate Work for his success, mentioning, "I wouldn't be working at Pizza Ranch if I hadn't taken the Elevate Work class and gained the confidence I needed to be a good employee." Brian is dependable, and a great communicator. He's even come back to teach an Elevate Work session since he's graduated! We're proud of Brian and the ways he's taken initiative and grown at his place of employment.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT, DALE AND TAMI BOGGUS

Dale and Tami began volunteering with Elevate Branson a year ago, and since getting involved they have both graduated from our Elevate Entrepreneurs course. In the last few months, Dale and Tami have undergone some significant health issues, but we’re happy to report that they are both back and serving with us on Thursday mornings, where they belong. Dale and Tami are dedicated Thursday Morning Meal Makers, and they serve not only our neighbors, but also our fellow volunteers with their kindheartedness. We’re thankful for both Tami and Dale, their kindness, and their servant hearts towards our neighbors.
