CMTN Career Fair: Connecting Students from the Classroom to the Workplace

Approximately 100 students and 20 employers participated in the successful Coast Mountain College (CMTN) Career Fair on March 19. Students at the Terrace campus were able to explore potential career paths in industries in Northwest BC, including finance, construction, law enforcement, social services, and more.

Before the event, the Work-Integrated Learning Team provided a resumé workshop to students, who were encouraged to submit their completed document to the employers of their choice.

Domestic and international students alike were given the opportunity to practise valuable skills in the workplace, such as business communication and self-promotion.

CMTN hosted a similar event at the Prince Rupert campus in November 2023 and plans to repeat this in the coming months.

New CMTN Health and Wellness Centre Now Open to Terrace Students

The CMTN Terrace campus formally opened the new Health and Wellness Centre at Waap Amgam (House of Cedar). The space houses the team's offices, an open event area, and a virtual clinic room where students can privately access healthcare professionals. Students can come in during any day of the week to access mental health resources, destress after class, or sit in a quiet and calming environment.

During its opening week, Mental Health and Wellness Officers Nitu Karmacharya and Shannon Doyle welcomed students and staff with wellness activities such as meditation, yoga, self-defense, art therapy, and making stress balls.

The Centre shares its space with interim Student Engagement Coordinator Madison Greening, and it has also been used to conduct engagement activities. For Easter, Greening gave visitors treats such as chocolates, shirts, and bags. Students can expect more exciting activities to be held in this location in the coming terms.
