St. Johns County Election News and Updates      August 2024

Good morning, St. Johns County voters!

Early voting has now ended, and your last chance to vote in the 2024 Primary Election is on Election Day!

Election Day for the 2024 Primary Election is Tuesday, August 20, and it’s an important one! Many important local offices may be elected in the Primary Election, and voter turnout in St. Johns County primary elections is always significantly low. On Election Day, polls will be open from 7 AM to 7 PM for voters to cast their ballots. Before heading out to the polls, I recommend taking a quick minute to make sure you’re Election Ready:

  • Check your voter status: Make sure that you are registered to vote and that your information is up to date.
  • Review your sample ballot: Familiarize yourself with the races and candidates that will be on your ballot. You can download and mark your sample ballot to bring to the polls with you to make for an easier voting experience!
  • Find your polling place: Some polling places have changed since the last election. I recommend verifying your polling place before you head to your precinct.
  • Bring the correct form of ID: Photo and signature ID are required when voting in person. Voter information cards are not a valid form of identification.

Remember, the 2024 Primary Election is open to all registered St. Johns County voters. When voting on Election Day, you are required to go to your assigned polling place. If you go to the wrong location, you will be rerouted to your correct polling place. If your address has changed, we recommend calling the Elections Office to update your information so we can direct you to the correct polling place the first time. This can be a real time saver!

Voting by mail? Vote-by-mail ballots must be returned to the Elections Office by 7 PM on Election Day, August 20, to be counted. Vote-by-mail ballots cannot be returned to Election Day polling places. Because it is too late to mail your vote-by-mail ballot back, we recommend surrendering your vote-by-mail at the polling place and voting in person.

Voting at the Elections Office is restricted to emergency situations only. Should you have an emergency and are unable to vote at your precinct, you will be required to complete an affidavit and state the reason for your emergency prior to voting. If no emergency exists, you will be rerouted to your Election Day polling place to vote.

Please call the Supervisor of Elections Office at 904-823-2238 or visit our website at www.votesjc.gov for additional information regarding the August 20, 2024, Primary Election. I look forward to seeing you at the polls!

Sincerely,

Vicky Oakes
