From Here, From There (De Aquí / De Allá)

Did you miss the WETA broadcast about Luis Cortes Romero, the first undocumented attorney to argue a case before the U.S. Supreme Court? He journeyed from a difficult youth to the highest court in the land as part of a powerful legal team fighting the Trump Administration’s attempt to rescind DACA.

A DACA recipient himself, Luis made a significant impact as co-counsel in the landmark case DHS v. Regents of the University of California, which led the US Supreme Court to strike down the Trump administration's decision to end DACA. In addition to his legal practice, Luis serves as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Minnesota Law School and a board member of the National Immigration Project.

Biden / Harris targeting Latinos in ads

According to an UnidosUS poll of Latino voters, health care is the third-most-important issue for that group, cited by 33 percent of respondents as a top issue, only below jobs and inflation.

One ad begins with a proverb in Spanish, “dime con quién andas y te dire quién eres,” (“you are who you hang out with,”) which has become an unofficial motto of Hispanic Democrats in the Trump era, used in everything from stump speeches to TV ads.

Congressional Hispanic Caucus throws weight behind Biden

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus has thrown its support behind President Biden as he faces growing calls to withdraw from the presidential race.

Caucus Chair Nanette Díaz Barragán (D-Calif.) and deputy caucus Chair Adriano Espaillat (D-N.Y.) released a statement Monday night affirming their support for Biden and Vice President Harris’s reelection efforts. Their statement comes as Biden and his team attempt to quell the backlash he’s received from a poor debate showing with former President Trump last month.
