Comments: Latinos Support Biden

Senator Alex Padilla: “[President Biden is] more than capable of not just running, but winning in November.”

@CortezMasto: This Latina is proud to stand with @JoeBiden, because he knows what it means to fight for our Latino community and for the families working every day to build their American Dream in Nevada. That's what this election is about. And working together, I know that we can win.

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: “I have spoken with [President Biden] extensively. He made clear then and he has made clear since that he is in this race. The matter is closed… Joe Biden is our nominee. He is not leaving this race. He is in this race and I support him.”

@RobertGarcia: Post debate focus groups showed undecided Latino voters moving towards President Biden. And the campaign had the biggest fundraising day of the cycle. Onward.

@latinovictoryus: President Biden: "I don't walk as easy as I used to. I don't speak as smoothly as I used to... I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong. I know how to do this job...I know like millions of Americans know; when you get knocked down you get back up!"

@LinaHidalgoTX: Please see my statement: “As a leader in Texas, I feel the responsibility to add my voice to recent alarming conversations. Over my five years as County Executive responsible for a county of 4.7 million residents, l've had the opportunity numerous times to witness President Biden's work first hand. I spent the day on the ground in Houston with him after a deadly winter freeze and saw his thoughtful questions and his genuine concern for the community and emergency workers. I had a long and intense conversation with him and 6 other elected leaders from around the nation and visited with him in the Oval Office. At his first State Dinner as President, I watched him graciously play host to the President and First Lady of France deep into the night after a full day related to the visit. Just recently, I visited with him on Airforce One as he met our new Mayor and energetically showed us around. Not only has he shown strong leadership over the years on countless vital issues, I know firsthand that he is more than capable.”

@kerritalbot: I talked with @JoeBiden at the WH immigration event in June and I was on stage with him and I thought he did an excellent job! We had a very positive interaction. The Hub is deeply appreciative of the Biden-Harris announcement on keeping families together.

@vzlanosconbiden: Dos países, dos independencias. #EstadosUnidos y #Venezuela. Nuestra co-chair @adeferr y su mensaje. Seguimos con @joebiden y @kamalaharris

@RepEspaillat: President Biden and Democrats have saved Americans money by capping the price of insulin, lowering health care costs, making historic strides to lower costs of clean energy and to support student debt cancellation. We've made tremendous progress under @POTUS and our work continues.

@MariaTCardona: My take @CNN and many voters’ around the country as well - “would rather have @joebiden on his worst day than the dangerous unhinged existential threat to our democracy and our country that is Donald Trump…” Take a listen-

President Joe Biden tested positive for COVID-19 while traveling Wednesday in Las Vegas and is experiencing “mild symptoms” including “general malaise” from the infection, the White House said.

Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Biden will fly to his home in Delaware, where he will “self-isolate and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time.” The news had first been shared by Unidos US President and CEO Janet Murguía, who told guests at the group’s convention in Las Vegas that president had sent his regrets and could not appear because he tested positive for the virus.

Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the president’s physician, said in a note that Biden, 81, “presented this afternoon with upper respiratory symptoms, to include rhinorhea (runny nose) and non-productive cough, with general malaise.” After the positive COVID-19 test, Biden was prescribed the antiviral drug Paxlovid and has taken his first dose, O’Connor said.

Virtual White House Briefing on New Actions to Expand Opportunities for Latino Communities

Friday, July 19, 2024 @ 2:00 pm

RSVP for Webinar

Greetings,

On behalf of the Biden-Harris Administration, we invite you to join us on Friday, July 19th at 2:00 PM ET. We will be joined by Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona and other administration officials to discuss President Biden’s commitment to advance educational opportunities for Latino communities and give more families a fair shot at achieving the American dream.

This call will provide information on President Biden's new actions to increase support for Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) and high school students regardless of immigration status across the country. This will be inclusive of the Executive Order establishing the White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity through Hispanic-Serving Institutions, and the Department of Education’s proposed rule to expand eligibility for TRIO programs (federally-funded college access and transition services).

We hope you will be able to join us!
