NEWS FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Dear Teachers and Parents,

Student Field Trip to Mission San Juan Capistrano Winter 2023

Mission San Juan Capistrano continues to be a favored field trip destination. Did you know? The Mission hosts over 70,000 field trip students every year and provides hands-on learning experiences. We are honored to have become a special "Rite of Passage" experience for 4th graders across Southern California.

View our many onsite educational programs including our partnership with Discovery Cube and Journeys to the Past which feature live and immersive learning experiences, all are outlined in our 2023-2024 Educator's Guide. Candle making has been a huge hit and continues to be a favorite add-on program to any field trip.

Mission San Juan Capistrano is still offering free funding for up to 150 students per day. This funding opportunity has been underwritten by grants and donations from generous donors from all backgrounds. As a result, everyday more students have been able to enjoy our new audio tour and experience our Mission Matters adobe brick making class at no expense (the combined experience is valued at $19 per student).

SHARE YOUR VISIT WITH US!

"Our 4th-grade Scholars experienced a hands-on lesson in history when they visited Mission San Juan Capistrano, CA. Students learned about adobe brick making and even had a chance to build some small bricks.

Next, they explored the science behind candle burning and created their own candles, which was a highlight of the day.

The day ended with an audio mission tour of the grounds. It was definitely a day full of fun and learning! - Teacher
