p|m Gallery is pleased to present a new body of work by Edith Dakovic. The Sameness of Differences consists of two new series of sculptures that lie flat against the wall. Despite their 3 mm thickness these sculptures exude remarkable depth. 'Same-Same Yet Different' and 'Identical Twins' play of facets of perception; how perception may be altered depending on context and the viewer's cultural, political, and religious background. Inspired by the colour theories and studies of Bauhaus artists J. Albers and J. Itten Dakovic's sculptures make us think we are seeing more difference than actually exists: four different skin tones where there are only two.
