MESSAGE FROM THE CEO

The Ottawa Board of Trade was proud to partner with Mayor Mark Sutcliffe, the City of Ottawa, Le Regroupement des gens d'affaires de la Capitale nationale (RGA), Ottawa Tourism, and Invest Ottawa to host a city wide economic summit on Feb 16, 2023. Over 125 passionate business and community leaders gathered to discuss key drivers for economic growth including the new arena and event centre at LeBreton, downtown revitalization and the ByWard Market, attracting talent and regional economic development. This thought leadership will inform the city's economic development plan, as well as the OBOT advocacy agenda. I want to thank the OBOT board members and volunteers who dedicated their energy and expertise to this forum. One thing is clear, Ottawa-Gatineau has many exciting opportunities to pursue. The next step is to hone our collective focus on the key drivers for inclusive and sustainable growth. Together, we will.

Cheers, Sueling

Sueling Ching | President & CEO | Ottawa Board of Trade

Do you have ideas about the future of downtown Ottawa?

In a recent interview with Sam Laprade, Sueling Ching, President and CEO, Ottawa Board of Trade, shared the importance of supporting the downtown core and making the nation's capital the best place to live, work, and visit. "Whatever all of us can do to animate the downtown, to get involved in these special events, to support local business. We should be thinking of it as an investment for our future."

As an engaged member of the Downtown Ottawa Revitalization Task Force,

we invite you to share your thoughts on ways to improve our downtown core. Now is the time to reimagine a resilient and revitalized downtown. One that drives affordable, inclusive, and sustainable city building and integrates our Indigenous heritage. It is an opportunity to build forward better and create vibrancy in the city core all day, every day.

The first phase of public consultations closes February 21st!
