Greetings!

Your support has made significant change in the villages which Sowing Opportunities is serving. You are central in this work of economic justice which affects the whole world: we are connected. And, this justice addresses the immigration crisis.

Agricultural solutions address migration due to poverty and lack of economic opportunities

Your support helps families to stay in their homes in search of a better life. Sowing Opportunities’ agricultural solution allows families to feed their families and this gives them hope to not emigrate to other places.

We are raising $13,000 to buy a parcel of land to build the gathering space for safety and learning to be used for activities that will benefit everyone in the village in a forgotten region. With this land, we can have a partner in Habitat for Humanity Guatemala, who will make the construction of this dwelling possible.

This greenhouse agriculture withstands the extremes of recent climate change, including

  • flooding from hurricanes as well as
  • extreme and constant drought

which is

  • causing many Guatemalans to flee their homes and
  • seek refuge in the north, making dangerous journeys to the U.S., frequently undocumented

Because of the yield produced with expert guidance and resources, despite climate change, families who were previously destitute, like Don Roberto T’iül, are able to have enough quilete to nourish their families and sell it in the market.

I am excited that next month I will be in the villages of Chajmaic and Salaguna, in the remote region of Eastern Alta Verapaz, to witness harvests like these!

Together we are building hope.

We are seeking funds to make the gathering space for safety and learning a reality. Please join us in this capital campaign!

Your donation is key towards this secure path, for forgotten people in Guatemala and all over the world. Would you be able to donate $25, $100 or $250 to help this mission?

Your support is primary, for this infrastructure and the future of Guatemala as well as the U.S.

Thank you so much for bringing hope and safety to these remote villages.

Many thanks,
