Messages from Food Pantry at the Union Congregational Church

For the month of July, the food pantry will be the recipient of Bloomin For Good. This is a program supported by the Whitman Stop & Shop on Rt. 18. For every mixed bunch of flowers at $9.99, $1.00 will be donated to the pantry. Be sure to get your flowers at the Whitman Stop & Shop to donate to the food pantry.

The Food Pantry will be holding a Can & Dry Goods Drive for the month of July. By the time the summer months roll in, the canned-good stock from the holiday drives start to dwindle. Drop-off buckets will be around town as well as the red bucket outside of the Leland Room. Items that are becoming scarce at the Greater Boston Food Bank include canned fruits, rice, soups, paper towels, and personal items such as deodorant, shampoo, and toothpaste.

Please consider donating some of your time - volunteers are needed. (508) 378-2874

Ecology: 'the branch of biology that deals with the relations of organisms to one another and to their physical surroundings."
How is my relationship with other organisms and my physical surroundings?

It can get overwhelming to think about and wonder what we can possibly do to help our environment. I think: “Am I in a healthy relationship with nature? “ I wonder: “Will my actions make an impact on the Climate Crisis?” The answer is I don’t know. I don’t. And I suspect you don’t either.

But I CAN tell you, each week for 13 years, your BuzzAround has connected with our communities to find and share goodness, to pool our energy around projects that make our lives better.. our homegrown initiatives, our local democracy in action. And I have seen THAT work. I have seen organizations and small businesses grow and blossom with the press we have given them. We shared news of ways people can get involved, and they did!

I AM also a firm believer that a collective of people can make change. And that the survival of our habitat is THE MOST important thing that needs our attention.
Announcing: “Climate Can Do” simple actions we all can do. Simple and meaningful steps. Things to think about. Together, we’ll investigate individual climate actions to make an impact, and find out if we can, by thinking ecologically, change the path of destruction humanity is on. We are small, but we are mighty.

I have hope. Hope for all of us. ~ Jacquie
